Great research. OK. I use Rocketdial on my phone for contacts. I can search by 'middle' name and results show up, though I have only one contact entered with a middle name - myself! - and the search results with Rocketdial also show first names that match my search as ...

I have compiled a table equivalent of fields Outlook 2003 and original (stock) Android 4.2.2 (on Samsung S4) without root.
