MPE not importing email from Outlook
MPE not importing email from Outlook
Hello. I have been using MPE since a while and I noticed that, for some weird reason, when I sync with Outlook 2003 the email address is not imported properly.
Even having the email field properly filled, MPE imports only the phone numbers.
If I edit the email, sometimes after sync it updates and sometimes not.
Due the new feature (Gmail), I have tried to sync with Gmail and noticed that MPE did not imported any email address as well.
I have not found any explanation on FAQ and all I have found by search tool does not reflect the same problem I am facing.
I am using an SE K550i
Firmware R1JD001
Windows 2000 SP4
MPE 1.6.7

Thanks for the quick response.
No email addresses imported at all. I have set the right folder for sync.
If I edit the email address - no changes at all, just select the field, change one letter, sync, return, change the letter and sync again, the address is imported properly (most of the time. I have some failures on this procedure as well).
I am starting wondering if the Exchange server somehow "mask" some info from Outlook.
Cheers.

That is it. I verified that this is the problem. The exchange server have on the field the path (I have exported the outlook contacts to excel sheet and the field for email was only the path).
I have edited the export file and changed the field e-mail. This workaround works. Maybe in the future, MPE can have the option to use the "EmailDisplayName" - have the format NAME (mail address) and collect the info from this field.
Anyway, thanks a lot for the support and congratulations for this great software.

Hi!
I find Outlooks (Exchange perhaps) behaviour annoying. I updated some entrys in my adressbook i Outlook with email-addresses. Now MPE asks me if I want to sync those contacts every sync with Outlook as defalt "correct" address. I know I can add the entries to the ignore list, but it is not the best solution.
Is it possible to add an option to ignore diffrences in email when address is stored on exchange-server? And also possibly give you an option when synching to manually enter correct email-address (or at least give a warning) if MPE has an empty field and exchange tells you it has an address?
Thanks for a great application

This thing is more complicated then i thought. It would be easy to read out the mailaddress from a Active-Directory if i would use external librarys (which costs money) - but no chance to read them out with normal access to Outlook. I made now a compromise: MPE detects if the mailaddress cannot be read out and if this is the case he ignores the mailfield completly. So basicly it should work now - but you have to type in the address in MPE manually. Here is the link to the current beta: http://www.fjsoft.at/files/MyPhoneExplo ... Update.exe
