Strange smiley / emoticon display

When sending sms which inclueds a smiley Smile

from MPE to Samsung phones, the emoticon doesn't show correctly. It is displayed as a green bug with two eyes and two small "antennas". Is there a way to have this (and maybe other) emoticons to be displayed correctly?

Which App are you using to handle your texts on your phone?

I'm using the standard "Messages" that came with the Samsung phone. It says version 1.0.0.

Don´t know that Samsung stuff. But some apps need a special Emoji Package installed. That´s what I was thinking of.

I have done some more testing.
When sending from many different phones to my phone or from my phone to other phones, the smileys are displayed correctly - independent of how I insert them into the message (picking a smiley from a list or entering : - and )

When doing the same from MPE, the smileys are displayed as this green "bug". To me it seems like MPE is involved in this...

BTW: That "Bug" is called "Andy" and it´s Android´s mascot.

So, how does that all happen?
You connect your phone to the MPE and start typing a text.
Now, how do you get a Emoji in there?

Don´t get me wrong but it seems we need lots of more information to solve this so we go into the details now.
