I had a working MPE installation on Windows 10 syncing Outlook to/from a Samsung S7.

My windows install had an issue and the only fix that would work is the type of windows restore that keeps your data files but requires programs to be re-installed.

So I believe my MPE data files are there on the PC wherever MPE keeps them? Is it in "roaming" or some subfolder there?

When MPE is re-installed will it overwrite my data files? If not, can I "bring back" my phones profile and data and pickup syncing where I left off? Or if I back them up before the MPE install can I copy them back?

Or do I need to start "fresh" and setup a new phone profile in MPE and load data from the phone and do a "first sync". My issue is I am pretty sure both outlook and the phone have changed since my last sync so I can't do a "phone overwrites outlook" or "outlook overwrites phone". I really do need to do a sync.

Thanks,

BJB

Hi
the default MPE dada file are: C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Roaming\MyPhoneExplorer

or

Windows-Key+R (Run Dialog) -> type in %appdata% and press OK. Now you should see the folder "MyPhoneExplorer"

best regards
icke

icke,
Thanks for the data locations, I appreciate it.

When I re-install MPE will it overwrite them?

And if I copy back, when I start MPE will it "know" my phone's MPE "name/profile" and the status of the last sync?

Everything else is the same on the PC....PST file in same place, etc. etc...
Just don't know how to do my first sync after re-installing MPE.

Thanks,
BJB

I checked that directory and I only see two files there....a debug file and config file. Is that all I should be seeing? I know I did the default install when I previously installed MPE and did not change any directories.

It seems like if there was user and data stored there should be more files or folders there?

It missing subfolder in format Phonename [IMEI-number] ?
Windows search function =>
"Phonebook.dat", this is the contacts file of MPE.
Where you find it, this is the correctly folder

Thanks. Unfortunately I do not have my data files but since I sync to outlook and not MPE data perhaps not all bad. I have my Outlook PST which is updated since the last sync, and the phone that is updated since the last sync. So they each have some changes.

Is the right appoach...Backup my PST file.
Setup a new phone profile.
Carefully setup my sync settings to outlook.
Be very sure to have the check box checked to verify any changes before executing.
Compare all dates for calendar settings

Run a sync for contacts, calendar, manually separately and let it find changes in both directions and it should make things right?

Does that sound right? I have installed and setup many times....but usually the phone is new and I just have outlook overwrite the phone. This is the first time in thisome position.

Thanks again for the help.

Thank you so much for the detailed instructions!

Because I normally am doing this with a new phone, I have never done that "create backup" step. Thanks!
