Version 1.8.9 Serious Install problem

Hello, Have used MPE for years - brilliant product.
I am using Windows 7 Professonal and Office 2010
Installed 1.8.9 - (I think) - upon running MPE icon after install - couldn't find exe file.

Tried reinstalling - at the beginning of install, after accept install, error window appears: MyPhoneExplorer is currently running Please close MyPhoneExplorer to continue.

Can't close this window! Have to go to task manager to force process close. Same happens when try to install 1.8.9. Cant install 1.8.8. same problem. If I select Portable version during install Portable installs OK - but this is no good to me as I use Outlook.

Partial fix -
I went to programs(x86) MPE and found the uninstall file there - successfully uninstalled 1.8.9. Reinstalled 1.8.8 - running fine again.

Any help on what might be the problem with 1.8.9 would be gratefully received so I can update to 1.8.9 successfully.
