Backup Issue

I have a Huawei P30 Pro. Yesterday, after backing up my phone in Google and MPE, I reverted from EMUI 12 to EMUI 11 whuch did a factory reset.

When I went to MPE to restore my backup, MPE said it couldn't connect and insisted on setting up a new user profile. I then proceeded with the restore but, when complete, my old messages were missing.

Any ideas?

You can find the MPE folder path under MPE => F2 => Advanced 2 => Database

Here you will find the old and the new subfolder under [Database]\MyPhoneexplorer
Quit MPE and copy all the contents of the old folder from the phone to the new folder..

Thanks. I can only see the new folder - the old one may have got lost when I uninstalled/re-installed MPE on my PC. I can see the messages on MPE/Messages/Archive (computer) but they seem to be stored in the backup file Backup Declan Huawei P30 Pro 2022-05-02 20.17. I made this back-up before resetting the phone.
