(Suggestion) Close sync window on sync failure
(Suggestion) Close sync window on sync failure
I would like to see a better solution for the sync process.
When a sync is interupted you have to click past several error message to get rid of the window.. and that's.. time consuming.
I'm using Bluetooth. So when I come home my phone starts syncing itself with the computer, but I often go out of range of the the bluetooth range so the sync gets interupted, which results in I'm having to click "ok" to every step in the sync process.
Would also be nice to see a feature that doesn't make MPE sync serveral time in less then.. lets say 5 minutes.
Cause like I said, I'm walking around with the phone at home, and I often step into- and out of the range of my desktop computer with bluetooth.
Thanks. :- )

I have to click past like 10 of those "OK" buttons, if not more, to remove the window. :- )

If you want to try it you can use the current beta: http://www.fjsoft.at/files/MyPhoneExplo ... Update.exe
Is it possible to see build version somewhere?
Is there a feed or anything to get notified on new beta versions?
Been using the version you first recommended (I'm guessing there been several beta version since), and it works better, but there are still issus with the error messages. (Can't reproduce them right now, so I'll work a litle more on that.)
But one thing I would like to suggest right away is that MPE should autoclose the "could not connect" message after some time...
Cause if MPE tries to autosync when I enter my room (Bluetooth) and it fails, then the error is stuck and it wont sync to I sit down and activly click away the error message.

I thought some of this problems gone away at first, but they really didn't. And I haven't have the time to write... but here I am now.
The error messages still presist. And I even have to _restart_ my phone explorer after xxx past them all!
So this is the steps that happens every day:
MPE tries to autosync when phone is not in bluetooth range...
... and it fails obviously. It now wait's for me to come back to the computer and click the "ok" button.
I click it, then I click the X to close the window... (!! This does that I need to restart MPE at the end I think !!)... it says "aborting current task" in sync window...
now next error message appears... I click "ok"
it spits another error "connection to phone not possible", I click "ok"
... and so on... until i've past all the diffrent sync moments (addressbook, messages, pictures, clock, etc etc), which takes a while.
After I've clicked "ok" to all messages I try to manualy sync, when phone is in range... it says "receive status..." (normal)
and the spits out the error message "connection to phone not possible", I click "ok", then the program hangs for 2-3 seconds...
I try to sync again... same thing.
I have to restart the program to be able to make a connection to the phone.
Hmm... also, at last, when I try to exit the program I get the error message "connection to phone not possible".
Hope you can do anything soon. Thanks alot.
Keep up the good work.
And I also want to wish you all the best in this new year. Enjoy. :- )
(Sorry about the dubble post. I thought I was logged in. And I can't remove the old one.)
I think the problem is that it's not possible to stop the sync process when it's started. When xxx the red cross, the message: aborting current task... is shown, but nothing happens and I've to kill MyPhoneExplorer.exe with task manager.
So it would be great there will be a way to abort the sync when something wends wrong.

The problem still presist in the new 1.6.6 version.
I got several error messages when it fails to sync.
And now, after I've clicked all the errors I can't see any of my messages in the inbox (the one that's chached)
And afterward. When I click the sync button it fails and spits out 2-3 errors.
But then, when I click the sync button again, it works.
So no restart needed like in the old version, which is an improvment. :- )
I would also like to give a litle feedback on the icons in the new version.
Many of the icons look better before, I'm sorry to say. I know it's not very plesent to hear maybe, but I must say what I think.
For example the star-icon in the sms sending window... it doesn't look like a star anymore now.
And the person icon in the contact list... looks like a nigger now, lol. (No offence anyone!)
We also have the ping-sms icon which was much better before and doesn't even nearly reflect what the function does.
But there were some cool ones too! And the new (?) filter sms function is very nice. :- )

I think that many of the icons that MPE had in the earlier versions was better then this new ones. :- )

Is there any updates on the sync errors issue?
Any updates on this? Starting to drive my crazy. ;- )
If the sync fails it's a mess getting rid of all the error windows!
And also, maybe that should be a feature that limits how often the phone get synced? If I sync the phone now and leave the bluetooth range and come back within 5 minutes, I don't the phone to get synced again.

Then disable the automatic sync.
Sounded like a really stupid idea at first, but to every body out there that has the same problems that I have - interupted syncs - this is the solution.
Windows (I'm using Vista) will connect the phone when it's in range so you can send and recive sms as usual.
Thanks FJ.
But I still hope you will fix a better cleanup of the failed syncs. ;-)

Any update?
I'm still getting one error messages per failed calendar entry. Each one takes 15 seconds to pop up and dismiss.
In the absence of a proper fix, could the timeout be changed to 1 or 2 seconds? Or how about remembering when the connection had failed and not attempting subsequent entries?
