Retrieving my saved voice messages :(

Beitrag von grank »

Hey,
First of all, great software! Thank you for writing it.
Now to my problem...
For a while now, whenever I wanted to quickly save a vocal melody or guitar riff that popped into my head, I would just start writing a "Voice Message" on my W810i and sing it into that, and then exit so that it got saved in the Drafts folder. It was a quick and easy way to make audio notes.
Unfortunately, I've discovered now that there's no way to get those back now, other than listening to them on the phone. I can't download them to my computer in any way, it seems.
I moved them all from Drafts to Saved Messages, and that really just seems to have made it worse. I feel trapped inside my phone now!
If I view the details of the audio file embedded in the saved message, I can see that they're all called "recording.amr" and their location is supposedly "Phone memory". However, there doesn't seem to be a way to access wherever they're being stored.
I've tried MPE as well as FMA for this purpose. SMS messages stored in Saved Messages will show up, but my Voice Messages won't. Searching around the forums here, it sounds like MMS (which I'm guessing is what the phone uses for Voice Messages) is not technically possible to retrieve with third-party software.
With MMS that I receive from others, I can save the audio or photo or video to the memory card, and then get it back that way... However, for some reason I don't have that option when I'm viewing a Voice Message in Saved Messages, possibly because the phone knows I wrote it myself. :(
Does anyone have any clue how I can ever get these recordings out of my phone? I know that it's been said a bunch of times that MPE will never be able to get MMS messages out of a phone, but I'm hoping that phone owners might know some other way, and I'm not sure where else to ask. This is probably the most knowledgeable community for that kind of thing!
The only thing I can come up with is sending the messages to myself, in the hopes that I'd be able to receive them and then save the amr inside to the memory card, but that could be prohibitively expensive for someone without a decent data plan. (plus I'm not sure my carrier will let me send MMS messages to myself. It's kind of a stupid thing to even want to be able to do!)
Any other ideas?
Thanks for reading.

You have the best chances by saving the embedded amr-file to the memory. There is no reason why it should not be readable by MPE. I know only one behavior in a similar task. If you use the recorder of the phone then the file is not visible for external explorers. But if you move the file inside the phone into a new subfolder then its also shown in MPE and other tools.

Agreed, it just won't let me do so! The only menu options I have for the amr-file are Replace, Play, Timing, Information, and Delete. :(
Probably because they're drafts I created rather than messages I received.
Hoping someone out there knows how I can get them without having to send them as MMS to myself...
Stupid damn phone!

Does your phone have a File Manager option in Organiser? If so try to find your amr file with that. It may give you more options.
