Outlook Sync items are all one day early in Droid X
Outlook Sync items are all one day early in Droid X
I like your application, but cannot get the Outlook 2007 sync to transfer properly to a Droid X. I am using Windows 7 (64 bit). MPE works well uploading contacts, but every item in my calendar is loaded one day early.
I have tried changing the time option to pc time and it still has the same problem.
I am sorry I don't speak German or I would search the rest of the board.

Please install and try the current beta on phone: www.fjsoft.at/mpeclient.apk
I tried the beta MPE you suggested, but it still loads SOME items a day early. I have found that this happens with any days that have "All day event" checked in Outlook. Outlook gives those items a date/time frame such as 10/25/2010 12:00 a.m. to 10/25/2010 12:00 a.m.
Frankly that time frame should be something like 10/25/2010 12:01 a.m. to 10/25/2010 11:59 p.m. , but what do I know.
In any event, that is where the problem seems to be.
I am using Windows 7, 64 bit with Outlook 7.
Thank you for your help.
This is a very promising app and I would like to see it solve this issue. I ran several searches concerning this issue on google and it seems to have happened to Google calendar, the iPhone and many other platforms. I don't know how they solved it, but there seems to be some solution.

FJ hat geschrieben:Do you still have problems which items which were created with the new beta ? Maybe you delete the items on phone and let create them again on sync with the beta. Which timezone has the calendar on phone ?
Yes, my last report was with the new beta. I had totally deleted all items in the phone calendar. I made sure it was empty except for one appointment to ensure it syncd. I checked all time zones in pc and phone. Both are US central time. Both using nist.gov for time upkeep.
Thank you .
I will explain my experience in hopes of solving this issue. I am using this app because I DO NOT want to sync with Google calendar. I have tried both USB and wifi.
Even if I do not hook up the Droid X, if I load the Outlook calendar into the pc based MPE program, the problem with any 'All day" items shows up in the MPE calendar window. I can see the problem even before I sync. I don't beleive the problem occurs during the sync process. It occurs when the pc based MPE 'reads' the Outlook data.

I have noticed a similar problem, however I am NOT syncing with Outlook.
I installed the app on my HTC Magic, and the latest version of the program on my Windows 7 (64 bit) PC. When I sync my _phone_ to MPE on my computer, any calendar items that are marked on the phone as "All Day" are shown in MPE _one day earlier_!
Any ideas?

No ideas yet. I hope we can help to fix it because I have found this app to be very useful for those of us who don't want to have our data on Google calendar.
As I mentioned, many other calendar sync apps have had this problem, including Google and they have solved the coding issue.
Hopefully MPE will also find a solution.

@mjschmidt: Your problem is not the same as from Rudy81. Your diffrence is between phone and MPE and not between MPE and Outlook. Please install the newest beta of the client. Browse in the phone to this url: www.fjsoft.at/mpeclient.apk
@Rudy: I did not forget you, but its hard to reproduce your problem. Which Outlook-Version you are using ?

I am using Outlook 7. (12.0.65395000)
Just to be more clear on my issue. When I hit the round button on the top of MPE, it says Sync to Outlook. the oulook calendar loads into MPE. Right away I can see that All day events are one day early. When they are loaded into the phone, they stay one day early.
I am rather confused about the 'arrow' next to the sync button that says "Download Entire". I don't know what that arrow does. Perhaps I am doing thing in the wrong sequence or something.
Thank you for sticking with me.

I have tried with my phone set to 24 hr. clock and 12 hour clock, but the settings have no effect on the problem.
I had previously not paid attention to the sequence of events between the pc based MPE and my phone. The sync seems to happen simultaneously, and both phone and MPE pc based show all day events one day early.
Can you briefly explain to me the sequence of events when I press the round 'sync with outlook' button?
Also, I previously had an iPhone and synced it with Outlook without any problems. Don't know if that matters.
I am also currently set for Daylight Saving time in the pc and the Droid.

I am beginning to think this is some issue with daylight saving time and international time settings. One of the many discussions I have found with this very problem is here: http://discussions.apple.com/message.js ... D=11525226
This thread addresses the same problem with Google calendars and has some interesting information on time zone issues: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/G ... 2de9&hl=en
This page discusses an instance where 'Central Time' in the US caused a similar problem. I am in Central Time. I will keep working on trying to help find a solution.
Otherwise, the app is working very well.

I spent several hours last night researching this issue on other apps and other phones. It seems that Outlook codes the appointments in UTC when the appointment is created. Somehow, if the phone os or sync system does not handle DST (Daylight Saving Time) correctly, the appointments are moved up by one hours, thus creating the appointment a day early or even having the appointment span two days. I know there is an Outlook patch for DST on the MS site and I have applied that. Still no luck.
This issue may be due to the Droid X OS and how it handles DST.
I have very little understanding of the programming involved with this time issue, but suspect my problem is rooted with DST.
MPE is running very stable and all other functions work very well on my Win 7. I hope I can solve this calendar problem. I really don't want to have to publish my calendar to Google.

In order to see if the problem is with either my machine, Outlook or my Droid, I decided to run Google's sync program.
It uploaded my entire calendar to Google Calendar and sync'd it with my Droid X without any problems.
So I can only surmize the problem is somewhere in the coding of MPE when interfacing with Windows 7 (64 bit) and or my outlook.

I used to face this problem with Outlook2003 but just 1 hr shifted. I solve by the following:
- in outlook, goto tool->option
- in tab Preference, press calendar options
- Press Time Zone... botton
- There is a check box of "Show an additional time zone", select it.
- Choose your time zone (choose the same as Current time zone above)
- Press OK, OK, OK until you back to outlook
- Do not do anything, just goto Tool-> Option and go back to the time zone setting again.
- remove Show an additonal time zone (Uncheck it)
- Press OK until you are back to outlook.
- Sync Calendar with MPE
Let's try in Outlook 2007 and see if it helps.
