Privacy Statement?

Beitrag von vletoh »

I'm quite concerned about privacy and security in connection with Android Apps. Some would call me even neurotic… (and yes I know, if you’re really worried about privacy then you should not use Android or iOS at all).

However, I select and pick my Apps carefully. For example, I would never install Barcode Scanner that requires full access to my contacts and history for reasons only known to its Chinese developers. Now, if there’s one app that requires lots of access to my private information (besides Apps from Google itself…) it’s MPE :)
I can imagine this relates to the nature of a synchronisation tool, and I also don’t have the impression that any information is misused in any way.
Still, is there any Privacy Statement available of which information is collected (or not) and sent (or not) without my knowing? Just for the peace of mind… :)

MyPhoneExplorer does not transfer any data to any webserver. The Internet-Permission is needed to enable the Wifi-Connection, not for connecting any external servers.

If you want to know the reason for a specific permission then just tell me, i'll give you the answer why the permission is needed.

The above was your response to vletoh. I have similar security concerns, which is what I love about the MPE software and why I don't want to synchronize through Google and the cloud.

But, every time I synchronize, my firewall asked me to grant MyPhoneExplorer permission to access the Internet, when I deny it, it fails to synchronize and I get this message

"Connection to the phone could not be established: 10061 - Connection is forcefully rejected"

If MPE has to go to the Internet every time I synchronize, I have to assume that information is being passed out to the Internet somewhere.
This is completely unacceptable to me. Is there a way to turn it off? Also, it's great that the software is free, but I would gladly pay for good software that's secure.

@wwweee333:

Did you allready check if MPE still want's to connect to internet even if the
"Check for new version" option is disabled under File > Settings > Startup?

best regards...

MyPhoneExplorer does not connect to any Webserver at sync but the communication works throught the same protocol than internet (TCP/IP) and cause of this you get the firewall alert. Its still the same: MyPhoneExplorer does not transfer any data of your phone outside your local network.
