Outlook 2007 Recurring calendar events incorrect

Beitrag von Jimbro »

I have a Samsung Continuum running Android 2.1. I have recently noticed an issue with all recurring appointments. They are one hour off. For example my 3:00 appointment shows up as 4:00 on the phone. On the PC the MyPhoneExplorer calendar shows the time correctly as 3:00.

This issue presented itself after the US changed to day light savings time last weekend.

All other appointments are correct on the phone.

I have used the force outlook to phone sync option to try to get the phone to sync but have not been successful.

Did you compare the timezones on phone and on PC ?

The time zones are the same between the phone and the PC. This only effects recurring appointments that were in place before the time change. Recurring appointments that were created after the time change are correct. Single events are correct on the phone.

And if you create now a event before the timezone ? Does this match ?

I added a new recurring appointment with a start date of Feb 24 and weekly recurrence with no end date. Feb 24 is before the time change. This appointment is correct on the phone afer I sync.

So it appears that recurring appointments with a creation date before the time change are at issue.

There was a bug in the client with this behavior before Version 1.0.6, i think you used this version when this items were created. Delete and readd this events to fix the problem

I deleted all of the data in the calendar and reloaded the data from the PC to the phone. The time for the recurring appointments is now correct!!!

However I did notice one other item. I have a weekly recurring appointment on Thursday at 2PM. I changed one occurrence of the appointment to 4:30PM.
Outlook correctly has the appointment at 4:30. The PC application (ver 1.80) calendar view shows the appointment at 2PM.

So it appears that changing one occurrence of a recurring appointment to a different time does not sync correctly between outlook and the PC application.

The ruled events synchronisation in version 1.8.2. is causing me synchronisations issues too, so I'm wondering if this problem with recurring appointmants has been solved in this version or that it is to be solved in a 2.x version.

I noticed the same problem with recurring events that straddle daylight savings time. This is a long known issue with Google calendar. I found a partial work around by opening the series of events on the phone which are off 1 hour and changing the timezone.

I don't remember the exact steps, but it went something like this: I changed the timezone from "Eastern Time" to "Eastern Standard Time", adjusted the time of the event and then changed it back to "Eastern Time". I don't remember if I had to adjust time start/end time of the event a second time. This fixed the start and end time of the series before and after the daylight savings event.
