Time Zone bug?

Beitrag von rjrcooper »

I changed the time zone of my PC and when I synced my Outlook 2010 calendar after this, MPE updated all my phone appointments with the new times.

So an appointment was at 12pm GMT. I changed the time zone on my XP laptop to US Central time, resynced using MPE and the appointment is now in my phone 6 hours earlier (6am GMT).

This means that I cannot use MPE to sync when I'm abroad. Either that or leave my laptop on local time.

Agreed, there seems to be a bug when using and moving across multiple timezones.

My diary on both phone and in Outlook have just been destroyed!!! Hours of work to put it right.

I changed timezone on phone and PC and sync'd and it's created the most gigantic and inconsistent mess. Some appointments are correct and some aren't; and those that aren't are inconsistently incorrect!

FJ is this a known bug?

How do others handle moving across timezones?

Its not a known bug. MyPhoneExplorer handles the timezone between PC and phone correctly, i tested this. I think the problem is how the times get readed in Outlook, but there is only one fieldvalue - nothing to evaluate if its correct or not.

Happening again

Beitrag von rjrcooper »

I just arrived in a place with a time zone one hour ahead of my home time and my phone time automatically adjusted. I didn't change my laptop time zone.

When I do a sync, lots (about a hundred) of my appointments think they've changed. They're mainly annual events like birthdays but there are a couple of one-hour appointments in amongst all the anniversary entries that also think they've changed. But then this may be because of another bug (here).

When I am prompted for these changes, there is no indication of what the system thinks has changed. On the right, the ""Entry in phone" and the "Entry in Outlook" are identical.

It would be very useful indeed if the sync process highlighted in red what it thinks the differences are so that I can make a more informed decision and also see where the problem lies.

I "abandon sync" each time this happens so as to not screw up hundreds of appointments. It looks like I can't sync my calendar again until I get home and my phone changes back to my home time.

Cheers.

I forced my phone back to my Home time and the sync only prompts for "real" changes (excepting, again, the ones related to this bug!)

It seems there is a bug in the way MPE detects whether an appointment time has changed.
