The mobile I have is the Samsung Galaxy S ii.
I have previously synchronized the CONTACTS and CALENDAR with Outlook on my PC (Windows 7 Professional) using a different sync program (Android Sync Manager). And the two sides are the same.
I have now switched to My Phone Explorer. It seems, however, that MyPhoneExplorer wants to create duplicate contacts. How can I avoid that from happening?
One way I can think of is to delete all the contacts from the mobile side. Is there a better way? Thank you.

In MPE settings, Sync section, where you select what to synchronize with, there is an Advanced button. Press that and you can choose sync mode to be either phone->PC or PC->phone. If you have really both sides identical, it probably does not matter what you choose.
Do not forget to set it back to Sync both after first sync run.

Syncing Tasks and Notes
Thank you for this very helpful answer. MyPhoneExplorer also syncs Outlook Tasks and Notes. How do I choose the corresponding apps on the mobile side? The Galaxy S ii had Task and Notes apps. Will they be automatically detected / selected? Your answers are appreciated in advance.
same phone + same problem
Hi I also have Galaxy s2
The phone is new so contacts on the phone was empty.
I ran the sync with outlook (via bluetooth and "sync both" was selected). In the middle of the process, it was interrupted. By that time almost half of the contacts were already copied. I ran the sync again. Now this time after analysis the software offered me to add all the contacts in the phone to outlook, that means the software thought those contacts were different but it had created the contacts itself.

@ufuk: before you run the next sync please click "Download entire" in the contacts-section of MPE. If the phonebook of MPE will be blank after this then please post the logfile so i can see what happened (this scenario could raise duplicates)
