Syncing two phones to Outlook
Syncing two phones to Outlook
Issue when trying to sync two phones to new Outlook contact.
If I add a new entry to contacts in Outlook and then try to sync this entry to the phones then it seems that only the first phone picks up the new entry and the second shows no new additions.
Both phones are same model (Galaxy S) and it applies to both phones - only the first one to sync picks up new entry (only applies if new contact entered via Outlook - OK if entered on phone).
Thanks

Check if you have set up any sync exceptions. The sync-handling is completly different for the phones. It should make no matter of the contact was synced before to another phone

I sync two phones to Outlook and have no problems. You have set up a different user for each phone haven't you?

Thanks - will check and reply, but unfortunately there will be a delay before I can check and reply as one of the phones is not available to sync at this time.

Yes, have set u for different users. Encouraged that you have no issues with two phones - will try and see what issues cause problem - only happens if I make modifiation to a Contact in Outlook window on pc. Please note possible delay in resonse as per reply to Fj above.

There are no sync exceptions set. Characteristics are very odd - some of the changes will sync on first attempt but others might only be picked up on subsequent sync's (even though neither phone nor Outlook have been modified). Most peculiar.
but others might only be picked up on subsequent sync's
Give one time the other source the priority. If it still does not help then we will check why the entries are listed as diffrent every time

Have tried various priorities/sequences - unfortunately I cannot see a common reason. Sometimes it works (syncs correctly), other times it only syncs the changed data after a couple of tries. Also, it sometimes shows an item as changed and requiring sync when, in fact, the item has not been modified immediately before the sync (it seems to be identifying items that have been changed in recent past but have already been sync'ed). The only further bit of information I can supply which might help is that when I get one of these false sync requests (and after syncing closed down MPE) then Outlook won't subsequently open and when I check in Task Manager I can see that Outlook.exe is still running (even though there is nothing showing on the desktop screen).
regards

Still experimenting.
Don't know if it helps to explain problem but when syncing a phone to Outlook (which has some changes in Contacts) - on first sync only one change picked up, on second sync immediately afterwards with same phone (no program/connections stopped or started) then it will pick up the remaining changes. Weird. I am using XP SP3 and Outlook 2003.
This problem seems to be some tricky to locate. You say some items get not synced to Outlook. In which state is the database of MyPhoneExplorer ? Is MyPhoneExplorer<>phone not equal or is MyPhoneExplorer<>Outlook not equal ?

Thanks for continued help. I now believe that this is not a "two phone" sync problem. It can happen with just one phone on an immediate repeat sync. Will check to see state of database of MPE (but problem is not always there, so may take a little time to reply!).
Don't know if following helps you to understand origin of "Contacts sync" problem. Sometimes sync (Contacts) will indicate that I have a mis-match between phone and Outlook but wrongly identifies the preferred (changed) option for sync. Also MPE identifies a sync requirement when neither phone nor Outlook have been changed and entries are identical (syncing does not produce aduplicate. This last situation happens quite often but seems to happen with just the same small set of names (but I can't see anything special about them or their entries). Weird!! Merry Christmas

The contacts on the phone have no "last edited timestamp" so this can happen if both entries were changed

MyPhoneExplorer does dtect a difference in this case. If its OK or NOT to detect the change is another story. Run MyPhoneExplorer in debugmode (Start-Run-myphoneexplorer debug-OK) and if you gut such a item then click on the button "Compare". After this send me a screenshot of the upcoming window

Will do - thanks for your continued interest and help.
