And talking about sync corruption, even though I'd configured MPE client to sync to phone (not Google), it synced to my Google account and corrupted my contacts, Google can no longer sync contacts.

I have restored calendar from HTC Desire to Samsung Galaxy Nexus

This should be sticky - works for me too.
Tried it first with my Nexus S on custom rom on ICS - worked.
On Galaxy Nexus on stock ICS - works too.

Hello,

Yes, it works for me too (Samsung Nexus S with Android 4.0 ICS, USB connection, outlook 2003).

If you previously installed and used successfully myPhoneExplorer with your Nexus on Gingerbread version of android, the process is even simpler :
1. uninstall myPhoneExplorer Client on your Nexus S
2. download with your Nexus S browser this link : www.fjsoft.at/mpeclient.apk
3. Install it.

You can reconnect to your computer, launch myPhoneExplorer on your computer and mutli-sync works ! (Previously, I had the "Obex" error).

Thanks to FJ Soft (^_^)

To people using MPE on Galaxy Nexus, do you sometimes have full phone crash will using MPE's Tasks ?
Once or twice a weak, my phone freezes (I need to remove the battery), while I'm on MPE Tasks (it's not the bug with scrolling, it's another one).
This was on 1.0.15 beta13.
I just installed beta 14 tonight, maybe it solves the problem.

Apps backup?

Beitrag von BJB »

I apologize if this is off-topic but am I correct that nowehere buried in MPE is an option to backup apps? Or is there an alternative? I know that Google backs up your "app data" but it appears if your phone crashes, MPE will restore your calendar, contacts, etc. but you have to try to remember each app you previously installed?

Thanks,
BJB

PS. Going to try multi-sync over the next few days. Individual sync has worked fine so far.

You can't use MPE for app backups. You need something like Titanium Backup or 'AntTek App Manager' (get both from the market). You may well need to be rooted to use some of the facilities though.

Did not check the outcome of this thread for some time (gmail filtered out the thread notification updates).

Works well for me now with the new mpeclient.apk

Thanks a lot for fixing the issue!

For derrickst1: the size of your phonebook file (>1MB) is much bigger than mine (147KB).

Could this be the cause of the timeout?

Hello,

I just got a Galaxy Nexus (with ICS 4.0.1) for a few days. Initially I installed MPE client on phone & I had many problems in USB connection & to sync Outlook:
-Contacts: end up I had many duplicated (up to 5) entries
-Calendar, Tasks & Notes: not working at all

Lately, I installed MPE client 1.0.15 beta16 from this link on my phone.

USB connection still doesn't work, provided that 'USB debugging' is enabled on my phone. When I hook up phone to USB port of PC, Windows Vista is trying to find “Galaxy” driver & finally it isn’t available. Does it cause this problem? At last, I use wi-fi connection ... fine.

Lucky that Calendar, Tasks & Notes work fine. However, there is no "Tasks" module in MPE on PC for me to see what are in there. The other problem found on Calendar & Tasks in phone is the content part has too limited space for me to hold all info from my old Outlook entries, i.e. I found some contents are eliminated after sync.

The most problematic is "Contacts". Even I chose "Sync both", all Contact entries got saved from Outlook to phone AGAIN ... so I would get MORE duplicates. I don't want to spend time in deleting duplications, so I stopped in the middle of the sync. After, the "Contacts" module in MPE on PC became blank. Then I tried the sync again, a new window pops up (as usual) with all entries are ready to save from Outlook to phone (provided that the "Contacts" module is still blank). I stopped there. Did my MPE on PC get corrupted & need to re-install? If needed, will it screw up other entries of Calendar, Tasks & Notes in phone?

My questions on "Contacts" are:
-should I need to wipe out all contacts entries in phone & start from scratch again? If yes, how to wipe out in phone?
-so far, I did not click "download" button in Contacts module, cuz I hate to screw up my master Contacts database in Outlook.
-if I successfully wipe out all Contacts entries in phone & then sync again, will MPE (on PC) set up list of Contacts entries of my Outlook & show entries again? Or should I need to un-install & re-install MPE on PC as well?
-last resort is doing factory data reset on phone ….. but if the Contacts sync will have same problem again?

What other suggestions & advices? If anyone can share as much info as possible, that is much appreciated.

I’m still in the first 14 days cooling period, I’m even thinking if I can't get around this sync to Outlook issue, I’ll return the Nexus & not to use Android phone for now.

Sorry for the long read. Thanks a bunch.

Hello Moderator & everyone,

Just to see if there is any luck that anyone can share some ideas on solutions to my posted issues?

Due to my own concern, I need to deal with them ASAP. If I can't, then I'll have to compromise to migrate all my database to Gmail & let them do the sync seamlessly (that I don't prefer to).

Thanks a bunch, Have a good weekend.

seblai,

I am a rookie MPE user so I cannot help much there.

However I have sync'd Outlook for many years and the best advice I can give is make sure you backup your Outlook ".PST file" before you do a sync (until you know it is working). That way there is a lot less stress if something goes wrong.
And, if there is a problem, you can always go back to that point.

All I can say is using the wi-fi connection method, I have not had connection or duplication issues with our Galaxy Nexus using MPE.

Wish I could help you out more.

Thanks for your reply, BJB.

Yes, I did backup my Outlook on a regular basis, as well as before the sync with my new Nexus this time.

Since I encountered problem of connecting via USB cable, so I used wi-fi connection. It worked out not bad.

Would you share your experience in syncing Outlook Contacts? Whenever you make changes in either phone or PC, did you have any problem to sync by simply using "Sync both" option? What else you can say about your experience?

Thanks again.

Thanks again for this good software!!!

Using the Beta version to sync outlook (no exchange) 2007
all works fine except contact photo's aren't transferred to the phone.
Any idea how to fix this?

All I can tell you is the first time, I selected "PC overwrite phone" or whatever that option is. Then after that I chose "both".

I have not had any issues.

@derrickst: 4K is quite much for contact sync and probably the reason for your problems. Did you already install the beta ?

@seblai: The mode "Sync both" is stable and long tested. Maybe you have a general problem if MPE tries to add/edit a contact on phone. Please disable Outlook-Sync for testing, add/edit contacts in Outlook, sync, download the entire phonebook (2nd button in toolbar). Does this also raise duplicates ?

"Plus sign" area code issue

Beitrag von BJB »

Greetings,

Galaxy Nexus sync is working great except for one issue. I am having the situation where the sync is adding a plus sign (+) in front of ONE certain local area code in contacts that makes the phone not able to dial it. Since it is local, there are a lot of them. If it matters, I am syncing to the "gmail" contact list on the phone.

It is so odd that it is a local area code that is causing the issue. And for sure there is no plus sign in outlook in front of these phone numbers.

They also appear in the MyPhoneExplorer Desktop contacts with the plus sign.

If there is a fix I could force another "outlook overwrites phone" sync that would overwrite the contacts on the phone. There is absolutely no difference in outlook between that area code and all of the others that did transfer correctly so I don't think there is anything I can do in Outlook about it? Just this one had the plus sign added.

I see that in December there was a beta desktop update that might have fixed it. But I am not sure if that is included in the most recent program I have or not....also, if that IS the fix for me, do I just install it on top of what i just installed and then re-sync?? Since I know getting ICS working on the Nexus involved a beta on the phone side did not want to assume this would work.

Any thoughts most appreciated and keep up the good work!

Thanks! Other than that the program is working great!

Hmmm, I've read everything I can and I think maybe the solution is to download the desktop beta version that fixed the "+ sign" issue for another user with another phone. The only reason I hesitate is I am using the beta ICS Galaxy Nexus phone client and not sure if anyone has used those 2 together. Can anyone on this thread that uses the Nexus confirm that the desktop beta app fixes the "plus sign" problem?

Thanks,

Sync issues with Calendar on 19100 with ICS

Beitrag von cabanachives »

I stumbled across this post, thank goodness! Having the same problems...used to sync GREAT (love the software and donated to it) with my Samsung GS2 International i9100....upgraded to Official Stock ICS ROM 4.03 and it always locks up and stops when syncing my calendars with Outlook 200 on Windows XP SP3. I don't know what to do except revert back to Gingerbread? Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated!

Cabanachives,

Greetings. Just to clarify this thread is mostly about ICS on the Galaxy Nexus. Since the beta MPE phone client came out quite a while ago to fix ICS issues on the Galaxy Nexus, it has worked well, no freezes. Very nice and stable. Not sure if this has been tested on an S2 or if it is even appropriate for ICS on an S2.

The only issue with the Galaxy Nexus and MPE is the "plus sign" issue on certain area codes. We are waiting for input on that issue.
