Feature Request:Allow selecting what contact list(s) to sync
I would like to make a feature request.
Recently I have upgraded from HTC DHD to HTC Senation XE. Had using the DHD with old android releases together with MPE as well after having it upgraded to the latest andoid releases 2.3.4. During all that time I only saw 1 contact list in MPE: 'Phone'.
After using the new S-XE, I see something nice. Not only the Phone contact list is shown in contacts section of the sidebar, but also other lists like Google/Facebook/WhatsApp.
Also there is added an 'All' list nicely combines the output of all specific lists into 1 list on the screen. Very nice...
I don't know if this is because I have upgraded android release, or that it's because I created a 'new user' within MPE.
Now what's the issue:
When synching to Outlook (2010) I can't specify (at least I haven't found how to?) that only the Phone conact list should be synchonised to/with Outlook. As a result I get people multiple times in Outlook (1 from each contact list). The only thing I want to sync is the phone contact list with outlook.
There are some nice features to block some outlook contact persons/groups to be synced to the phone, but not from phone to outlook
Feature request:
Let the user select what contact list(s) should be synced to/with outlook.
Extra issue (just mentioning, not a problem for me personally when above feature request is executed):
Having the sync currently operational there seems to be an issue with idendifying uniquely the different contact persons. As a result I get multiple birthdays created into outlook. So I can't use MPE until above feature request is available, without having to delete all double birthday entries in the agenda.
P.s. This feaure request was created based upon 1.8.2 nightly build 2012-01-07.

@taparoles: I did not change the date-picker (i never told that i did so). On my SGS2 the weekday is also shown in the default datepicker. I know that a calendar-picker would be a good solution but its really alot of work to develop such dialog. Currently no time for this. The list shows the next seven weekdays as weekday only, other dates are shown with Date + short format of weekday. This format will be kept.
@Simon:
1) just open the Client twice so that the GUI is shown
2) the link is very often posted, www.fjsoft.at/mpeclient.apk
3) just type in the URL in the brwoser of your phone
4) No
@Sean: I will see what i can do
@yato: The upcoming version shows also the button "Edit"
@mariner: MPE uses common font sizes, if they are even too small then you can change the scale-value in Windows
@RoBo: The Account filtered contactview was added with 1.8.2. There is no way to decide which accounts to use for sync with Outlook but you can choose which accounts MyPhoneExplorer can handle in general, take a look at the settings of MyPhoneExplorer Client on phone
@dhruva: I will not create a grocery app, but you can use the Textinput feature of MPE to type text. PIN-Protection may come but not in the upcoming version

Event reminders popping up after the end of the event
Hi,
I have noticed that the MPE program shows event reminders each time I resume my laptop from hibernation. Which is good. However, I don't see the point of showing a reminder when the event date is passed. For instance, this morning (Friday), I had a reminder of an event that was planned for two hours on Tuesday afternoon.
I think it would be a good idea to not show reminders when those reminders are no longer relevant, i.e. when they no longer serve the purpose of warning you of an upcoming event. I don't want to delete events from the calendar so that notifications would stop.

In the MPE Task on the phone, would it be possible to get the same keyboard behaviour we have in standard Android ?
When using the keyboard from the Contacts or SMS standard apps (for example), I get this very useful behaviour :
-The first letter of a line is automatically an uppercase ("shift" is automatically pressed before you type the first character).
-After a dot (.) followed by a space, the next character is automatically an uppercase.
I'm on Android 4.0.1, using the standard keyboard.
Thanks !

I've tested it already, this is not an elegant solution, changing system font size causes in some apps problems with displaying graphics and text elements. Working with other than native display resolution is not comfortable-the image is not clear. In my opinion the best solution is changing the font size inside the application.
Hi
Thanks for a great program.
Feature request:
1) The ability to use a domain name in addition to a fixed IP address.
My phone is not normally on the same network as the PC. At work, I get a different IP every time. With a dynamic DNS client on the phone, I could have the same domain name at all times.
2) The opportunity to share clipboard between PC and Android.
3) One thing that has been mentioned previously is the ability to connect sync between a calendar in thunderbird and a calendar in android.
Thanks
/Josef

Thank you for this great soft. Excuse me to post again, i think you missed my previous post.
I would appreciate if i could select several contacts and assign them to a group in a single operation. Would it be difficult to implement this feature?
Thanks if you can do it.

I am sync'ing Android Calendar with Thunderbird & Lightning ok.
Sorry. Bad formulation. What I want is the ability to sync one Android calender with a Lightning calender and another Android calender with another Lightning calender. For now I can only sync to one of the Android calenders.
On the contacts screen, there are 3 field choices of NAME, FIRST NAME, and LAST NAME. I know I could uncheck name and use last name , then first name and will sort my contacts as I wish, but it would be nice to see NAME changed to "NAME (first last)" and add another choice "NAME (last, first)". That way if you wish to sort by last name, the program would format it rather then use 2 different columns with gaps.
Mostly cosmetic, but this would also require programming of cases where there are contacts with only a first name, so that they would be properly merged when sorting by last name.
If you use the current LastName and FirstName, it sorts like this:
Andy
Jim
Pete
Anderson, Phil
Bates, Cindy
Verny, Fred
If you consider my request, it would be nice to see the first name only contacts merged with the rest.
A new contact list field "Name Last, First" would be nice.
Thanks for any consideration!

Better keyboard navigation of Conversations window
Better keyboard navigation of Conversations window
I'd like the SMS Conversations window to be easier to navigate by keyboard. I think it should behave more like browsing Explorer:
- Left collapses a node
- Right expands the selected node
- Up and down move to the next item, and when there are no more items at the current level, the selection skips to the parent (if moving up) or the next listed parent's sibling in the list (i.e. whatever is the next item in the listbox, regardless of the level.
Also, I would like :
- the message lists for each contact to only expand if I press 'Right', and not automatically, and
- if I press 'Enter' with a contact selected or double-click on one, the most recent message to/from them opens up, and not a blank message.

Not sure if I made myself understood.
What I want is to be able to delete Notes on the phone but keep a copy in MPE Windows client.
Call Log syncing works the way I consider desirable. I guess this kind of syncing would involve assigning a unique ID to each note so that they can be updated if they are edited on the phone.
This leads me to a more important feature request (sadly today I m aware of it):
Force SMS synch Phone->MPE (desktop) only. This is, not mirroring dirs. If a SMS is deleted from phone, dont delete it also from MPE Windows client, (do not even ask to keep a copy in archive).
Currently, if a SMS has been deleted, MPE asks whether to keep a copy of the deleted SMS on the "archive (computer)" folder or just delete it.
The archive folder is a good idea, but it is very confusing. It is not just one folder, it is "Auto-archived messages" and "Archive (computer)"... it is very easy to create duplicates and it is not as good as storing messages onto "Conversations, inbox, sent, drafts" folders.
Basically what I am requesting is SMS and notes syncing working like Call logs syncing. (One can delete the whole call log on the phone without affecting MPE client call log). And that makes things easier as it means an unification of the way Calls, SMS and notes synchronize.
At the end of the day I would like to backup all sms, call logs and notes to MPE while the phone is charging. Afterwards leave a clean sms and call log, and only keep the notes I do not want to delete yet.
BTW, someone was having problems with charging the phone plugged to a loud PC at night.
When my laptop is on "stand by", the phone keeps on charging, so I dont see an issue here.

Many computers disconnect power to their USB ports when in sleep or shutdown. It may be a configurable option in the BIOS I suppose. I didn't see the OP, but although it's annoying, I can't see it's a problem with MPE itself either.
