Thank you for enhancements to Notes and Tasks

Hi FJ,

I just wanted to say a big thank you for the work you've done on the latest revision of the MPE Android Client (1.0.16).

The enhancements to MPE Notes and MPE Tasks make those two apps so much more usable, particularly the search facility that everyone was wishing for.

I also really like the fact that both of these apps can be added to the list of items searchable by Google Search - that's a very powerful combination.

For those who don't what I mean by that last comment, try it out for yourself:

From the home screen, start a Google Search by pressing the Magnifying Glass (search button) or tap on the Google Search widget to start a search.

Now press the Menu button and select Search Settings.

Select Searchable Items to see a complete list of your apps that can be searched by Google Search.

Scroll down until you get to MPE Notes and MPE tasks. Tick the check boxes to allow the data in those apps to be searched.

Now when you do a Google Search, it will search your chosen apps for the term you enter before it searches the internet, presenting the results to you as you type. Selecting a result will open the corresponding app and go straight to the data you were looking for.

Nice! Just one question: I checked I only have 1.0.14, so that I can't search tasks or notes. Is there something I should do to upgrade to 1.0.16?

You can update your version direct from the android market,
or, if you want to test the latest beta, download it from http://fjsoft.at/mpeclient.apk (inside your phone's browser).

Thanks for the tips. One strange thing: the "latest beta" seems to be 0.6.3 while my Android tells me I already have 0.6.6 installed. I can't figure the relation between this version number and 1.0.4/6.

But the android market version did the trick

FJ, I agree with the comments. Thank you very much - a great app just got much better with search and organized in alpha order!

I like to organize notes by category in outlook, and i know this feature will come one day to mpe but for now, i can just put the @ symbol before each note entry in my projects list in outlook and they will automatically be listed at the top of my notes list on the phone/mpe app with the new 'sort by text' setting...

Good to hear. Category-support will come but since this has to go in one hand with a update of the PC-application it will need time. By the way: I made new things for the Date and Time-Picker when you add/edit a task in "MPE Tasks". What do you think about this ? Beta as always: www.fjsoft.at/mpeclient.apk

Nice, I find picking in a calendar usually more user-friendly and faster than the previous system. The only case when it could be slower is if the date is far from today for example next year, but this should be pretty infrequent IMO.
