file transfers over wireless are painfully slow

Sync's and file transfers with MPE 1.8.2 to my Droid X over wireless is extremely slow.

If I copy files to MPE -> Files -> Memory Stick, I get a max of 400KB/s. Right now, I am trying to copy 10GB and looking at over 500 minutes...

My wireless is G and the phone shows it is connected at 54mbps. I have been using MPE for a couple years, and this has always been an issue. Any thoughts on how I can get the transfers over wireless to move faster?

On top of being slow... the transfers seem to intermittently timeout. I end up having to reconnect MPE to the phone and start the transfers from where they left off. I have the client set to not allow the phone to go into standby, so it shouldn't timeout.

MyPhoneExplorer uses a very slim protocol for filetransfer so this is not the reason. For my phone i reach about 1 - 1,5 MB/s. Which speed you get when you transfer files with MyPhoneExplorer via USB ?
