1.8.4 glitches

The latest PC software (1.8.4) has not worked for my scenario. During multsync attempts, I observe "failed to connect to outlook" when it tries to sync (I only sync tasks and notes). Also, the PC sidebar "gadget" no longer works. I've tried two installations with the same result.

When I reinstall v 1.8.2, all is well. I've tried the upgrade twice with the same result.

Using Win7 and Outlook 2010 (both 64 bit versions).

I've been very pleased with MPE for months - the perfect answer for my Android/Outlook combination. But I've reverted to 1.8.2 in order to continue using it.

With Outlook 2010, x64 version, I found that you need to have Outlook started. Once Outlook is started, I can syn with no issues.

I reported this some time ago and as I understood it from Franz, it is a interface compatibility issue between x86 applications (MyPhoneExplorer is an x86 app) and Office 2010 x64. Don't know anymore details.....

If the phone number already contains a 1 or country code then the lookup fails.

1-408-123-4567 fails
408-123-4567 works


Also the data source for your address tool seems to be incomplete 99% of my phone numbers fail. I realize I have a lot of cell phone numbers and work numbers, but even whitepages pro on my cell can give me the city and state based on the area code.

The other issue which I failed to mention was when you configure sync, choose Outllook 2010 and then the Advance option, often you get an error message saying it MPE can't read the contacts file structure. If you persist, eventually it will read the structure and MPE works fine from there.

The file structure I am talking is multiple folders contianing contacts.

@cybernard: 1-408-123-4567 is no a valid international number, how should MPE know that this number is located in US ? The number in this format will also work: +1-408-123-4567

MyPhoneExplorer does use the Whitepages API so the data come from there. I cannot control how good the results are since the data come from Whitepages. But MyPhoneExplorer will never give you a City-only result cause this is not the sense of a reverse lookup.

This is the 21st century of course I am not posting a real phone number on an open forum!!! Do you think I want to get spammed!

What I meant to say is if you edit a contact and click the magnifying glass icon if the phone number already includes a 1 then your program adds a second 1. So "14081234567" becomes "114081234567" so now the phone number is invalid. Then I get an error message NO_VALID_NUMBER because now the phone number has too many digits.

However, 4081234567, works because when it adds a 1 everything is correct.

In addition when no area code is specified it still adds a 1. 4561234 becomes 14561234 which will also fail. Instead probe the phone for its phone number and get the area code and country code from the phone and add it to all 7 digit phone numbers. And if that is not possible ask the user for their area code under settings.

Sorry, i wanted to say: 1-408-123-4567 is no a valid international number format. I don't want to see any private phone numbers in this forum

MyPhoneExplorer already knows your country prefix and it adds the prefix automatically to the local number. And caus ethere is no leading + sign on your number it is handled as national number. If you use +1-408-123-4567 then MPE will detect it as international number and nothing will be added.
