All guys here: Please update the client (
www.fjsoft.at/mpeclient.apk). The change is that MPE loads now all data from DB, but the photos are loaded in 10 pieces steps. I hope this will not decrease the performance...

Tadaaa!
I am happy to announce, that it is working here now. Thanks a lot!
Two issues that I would like to see adressed though (if you want me to, I can create a new thread regarding those):
- Contacts that are automatically added to my address book by Gmail (typically caused by mails from companies and other spam) show up in MPE. On my phone I have chosen not to display these and would really like the same functionality in MPE.
- It would also be really nice, if MPE was able to merge contacts (e.g. if a contact exists in both Gmail contacts and Facebook), so the same contact does not have several entries - just like the phone does.
Once again, thanks for your hard work. Not having MPE was really a setback when switching to Android.

Perfect.
1) There is a filter planned in the client where you can set up which accounts can be accessed by MPE
2) Merged view is a tiny thing in Android 2.0, but its nothing for MPE. It would make too much problems when syncing f.e. with Outlook
One more request. Please tell me:
- how much contacts are shown in MPE
- how much of them have contactpictures
- when you do a normal sync without changes on both sides: How long do you see "Initializing sync..." in the statusbar of MPE ?

Ad 1) Great!
Ad 2) Not so great. I guess there are a lot more Android users than Outlook users - and that user base is only growing. Thus, if it is 'easy' to make it work for Android only I will ask you to reconsider that...
The figure:
- MPE says I have 485 contacts (316 from Google + 169 fra Facebook)
- Roughly 400 have contact pics
- A sync with no changes takes 22 seconds

22 seconds are a long time. Would be better to find some optimations here. I turned up now to 25 photos per request. Please try again the beta and tell me how long it needs.

17 seconds.

Better, but maybe we can save some more seconds. Please try again. Client takes now 50 photos per request

Are you crazy ? Maybe i should add a option for syncing without pictures.
I think i will release the client now...

Hm, i cant managed to sync via wifi even with the beta4, or the Market 1.04 version. Is it USB only ?
[Edit]
Oops, my bad, it works with the beta, just had to wait a bit longer :]

FJ hat geschrieben:Still the same issue. The last chance would be to request the photo for each contact seperate from the DB. But this would slow down the performance very bad.
Current state: I will wait if there are more users with this problem. Its planned to implement a filter to select which contact-accounts are synced. Then you could disable f.e. Facebook to avoid the problem.
I have the same problem with my HTC Desire Android 2.2, everything exept phonebook syncing works fine. I really hope you can fix this, because i remeber using this prg with SE 810 and it was SUPERB.
MPE version on phone 1.0.3
MPE on pc 1.8.0
