In the settings of your phone you must have an active online sync with google.
That does create the duplicates. You have to make a choice.

Oh and by the way, did you ever reload all entries from the phone before hitting the sync-button?

Alternatively: install MyLocalAccount

Thank you for the replies. The sync function on my Google account on my phone says its off, and that is the only account currently on my phone. I do not use my phone for emails, but I did use it when I first set up the phone and didn't have Outlook, for syncing contacts. Now that I use Outlook--our company switched from GroupWise to Outlook--I then downloaded MPE to make the sync possible.

Should I delete my Google account since I'm no longer using it?

I'm thinking the problem may have something to do with MS Outlook on my android phone. I've uninstall it and am now deleting 20,000 duplicate contacts.
I'll be back at work next Monday and we'll see what happens.

I removed Outlook for Android because it does not allow you to turn off getting emails. If I could turn off the email function--which I asked MS about, and they said no--then I would use that program since it syncs with Outlook on the PC. That's why I tried MPE, which just does not seem to work properly on contacts. Works fine for the calendar, no duplicates, but for some reason the contacts just keep duplicating.

What's odd is that my Google Account is not linked to my business computer, which is what I'm syncing to. And the Google sync is off on my phone.

Ok, methinks you might have selected more than one contact account.

Open the settings of the MPE client on your phone.
In the setting for contacts to be synced, what is selected there?

As I have mentioned many times here, there is ONLY ONE account being synced...the Outlook account on my work computer. It works for my calendar, but continually duplicates contacts.

Yes its correctly, but we have ask many times, what do you have activate (the other side):
phone => MPE-Client=>Settings => Contact- accounts to sync ?
Only Google or a local Account and Google?

Which account you have selected to view in the Contact-App ?
Please activate only one!

MPE on phone:
Calendar: PC Sync (no Google)
Contacts: Phone selected (Google NOT selected)

MPE on computer: Outlook 2013 only

Only one account for contacts and calendar is selected.

Hi, thank you for the information.

1. phone => MPE-Client=>Settings => Contact-accounts to sync => only phone - it is ok :!:
2. MPE(PC)=>File => Settings => Sync => Outlook 2013 => Advanced => To sync Outlookfolder => please select only one folder :?:
3. phone => contact-app => settings => contacts to display => select only "Device" or "Phone" but not "All" :?:

Best regards
icke

All the settings are as you suggested. I have just sent you an email with screen shots of the settings on my computer just to make sure they are correct.

Hi @Lee1, how did this go? I'll wait for your confirmation that it worked before I try the same.

Did the duplicates get deleted automatically or did you have to delete them manually?

finally a fix

Thanks to Icke for his patience and ideas. This afternoon, at his suggestion, I deleted ALL my contacts on my phone, after backing up all my contacts in Outlook. I also deleted all the duplicate contacts on Outlook. Then I did a force>Outlook>to phone sync, which only copied some of the contacts. Then I did a regular sync, and all the Outlook contacts copied to my phone. I've done one additional sync just to make sure no duplicates are created, and it seemed to work ok now.

If you follow this routine, make sure you back up ALL your contacts both on Outlook, and on your phone if you have contacts on your phone that are not in Outlook. I'll continue monitoring syncs to see how it works over time, but so far looks good. Seems a bit strange to have to do a clean install of contacts, but perhaps there was some anomaly in the way the phone had contacts stored that created the problem.

For now, all is good again.
