@ajwales: The port which i told kirkie is on every PC a other.

The log is basicly good, you knew how to set up PortMon. But the important things are not in the log. The logfiles is only helpfully if the SMS-Delivery with the PC-Suite worked and the delivery with MyphoneExplorer worked not. Only in this case i have a chance to find out which setting could bring success also for MyPhoneExplorer.

Ok, but I changed MPE to use port 7 this morning and it has been working fine since. This has happened before though, but if it starts saying SMS failed I will post you a new log

Thanks again

AJ

Great program. Using version 1.7.1 on C902 on UK 02 network.

Only problem I have is the Message not send. tried changing port from 8 to 9- the only other one that listed the phone as connected through USB, but to no avail. Only other ports avail are 10 and 11 (port 3 is my fax modem).

PCsuite is so crap compared to this. that still had the disconnect for no reason issue, which i haven't expereinced with MPE.

thanks Si

SMS not sent

Hi,

Just downloaded this software as a friend showed me it on his W880i and it looked stunning.

I have a VodaFone branded C902 which has the SMS not sent error people are reporting.

From what I have seen, this software is amazing, so if it works with the C902, I would gladly donate towards it!

Hoping you can solve it.

Thanks,

Chris.

Maybe a fix for the SMS-issue:
- use the original datacable (the short black DCU-65) and not the old grey DCU-60-cable
- at least for testing use the USB-Port on back side of the PC without USB-Hub. The C902 and some newer models have problems with unshielded cable-connections.

fix doesn't work

hi FJ,

Sorry, but this is still not working.

I used to have a W880i which worked fine with it and I changed to a c902. I am using the new cable direct into the side of my laptop (Dell M1330 with Win XP) and also tried the same cable in my powered hub and the old cable in both configurations.

I get the same result every time, Sync works perfectly, but messages fail to send. I really hope you get this working as I only just started using your software a few weeks before I changed phones and it was brilliant. I changed to the C902 with the intention of donating to your software (if I use it - I pay!) but so far, I am having to use PC Suite which is terrible and keeps disconnecting on me :-(

I am on Vodafone UK, contract not PAYG. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE can you work out how to resolve this as this is a problem many people seem to be having? I would gladly act as a guiniea pig for you on any test code!

Chris.

OK, i tested and tried already alot of time. If you want then we can start one last chalenge:
- download and install PortMon
- get common with this tool - it is able to spy the serial connection
- in Menu-Edit-Max Outputbytes... set them to 4096
- then spy the Port which is used from the PC Suite and send a message with the PC-Suite
- do the same with MyPhoneExplorer

This is the only hope to find a diffrence, i had already 3 C902 here but they made no problems so i am not able to reproduce it. You can send the both logfiles via email to me

Check out the Devicemanager of Windows, i think it should be listed in "Ports (COM & LPT)" - if not then its listed in Modems. There are 3 Ports which basicly work, maybe you have to try them all.

here are my logs

Unfortunately, I cannot get the Sony Suite to log when the phone is connected! I get a log right up until the point where the phone connects, but as soon as I connect it - it stops logging! It is like the 2 things cannot run at the same time!

However, I was able to get MyPhoneExplorer to fail when sending a message (4 texts long) and logged that. My log is below... Please note that the text was NOT received on the phone I sent it to, so it completely fails to send.

I hope this helps, please let me know if there is anything more to do to get the Sony Suite logged.

got the Sony log!

Hi,

I managed to get the Sony Suite to log! I am afraid this is a really LONG log as I had to do a full sync before I sent the text, it was the only was to get PortMon to log!

So you know, I sent EXACTLY the same text message as I sent with MyPhoneExplorer (see my previous post for that log).

The Sony log is SO big that it will not upload, so can I email it to you?

Thanks,

Chris.

Please send both logfiles zipped to me via email. You can see my mailaddy at the bottom of every post.

EDIT: I got the logfiles already ;-) . It will take some time until i have checked them...

The PC-Suite got also no answer from the phone - same as MPE. Maybe the PC-Suite reports in general no error when sending sms...
Can you do one more test for me ?
- turn of "Stable connection" in MyPhoneExplorer
- start portmon and switch the Hex-Mode off (in our case the ASCII-Mode is much better)
- connect with MPE and try again to send a sms with more than 160 chars.
- then log the PC-Suite and try also to send a sms with more than 160 chars. It would be interesting how the PC-Suite handles it if there are more messages to send and the connection breaks after the first one

then send again both logfiles to me via email

Hi,

Yeah, that is my experience with PC Suite in general, it is very flaky and constantly disconnects from my phone in general use (did with my W880i as well).

I will redo the test and send it through to you shortly.

Really appreciate your help on this, hopefully we can get it sorted as I know a lot of users are having problems with the c902 - good old sony! :-(

Thanks,

Chris.

C902 & MPE

Hello, I heart a lot of very good feedback on MPE - and even more in comparison with SE Software! Now I am starting to use a SE C902 - and in this - and other - threads I read a lot about some problems with SMS and this phone. I wonder if there are more problems / issues? I think FJ wrote that in general his MPE should work with the SE C902... In case there are even more troubles - I like MPE already now and I might switch to another phone, like the SE K770i. Best regards /P

Take a look at the first post of this thread. These are all known problems, but they does not appear on all C902. The K770 made up to yet no problems.

I think i have found the problem.

Hi,

I have done a LOAD of testing and think that I have found the problem - cables and USB ports! I am not sure why this only occus with the C902 and not my W880i on the same cables and same ports, but here are my findings. If you think a log of working cables and bad cables helps, then please let me know and I will send you the logs.

1. Grey USB cable DCU-60 works 100% of the time for me. Either on a hub or direct into the laptop.
2. The DCU-65 works SOME of the time, but rarely in a USB hub.
3. A 3rd party cable never works!

Now the thing that is interesting is that this is ONLY for SMS, Sync etc works without a problem on EVERY cable above, photo transfer all fine etc. JUST SMS that is the issue.

I hope that helps some other people out - play with your cables, try an old DCU-60 (greay cable) and try plugging in ONLY the phone (disconnect all other USB devices where you can).

As I said, if you want logs of any of these different setups, please let me know and I will get them to you ASAP!

Now I have this working, I will be donating - thanks for all your assistance so far!

Cheers,

Chris.

This is really interesting - i thought always that the grey cable makes more problems cause its longer and it has no magnetic core (=more signal loss).

It happens only while sending SMS cause the phone does need a littlebit more power at this moment and then the signal is too low to reach MyPhoneExplorer or other softwares on USB.

very odd

looks like I am hunting for the old style longer cable! :-)

If you need any logs, let me know.

Thanks,

Chris.

Logs are not usefully here cause i think its a pure hardware-story. It will be interesting if this solution works also for other users...
