I've upgraded to Ubuntu 8.10, unfortunatly MyPhoneExplorer is broken now. I can't connect to my phone anymore, settings are the same as they were before under Hardy. I only get the error message "Phone could not be identified."

Are you sure that you have activated the "Stable connection"?

Yeah, not working for me in ubuntu 8.10 either.

It sort of worked the first time I tried it, and managed to sync one new contact out of 2, although very slowly.

Now it connects to the phone ok, but then any kind of sync gets messages about errors with OBEX and not being able to connect

Make sure that your user has the appropriate rights on the device-file and also for the link in .wine/dosdevices.
Maybe you can try to set down the OBEX-packetsize.

well, yes, my /dev/rfcomm0 file has root privileges, but that's normal, isn't it?

anyway, the fact that i can actually connect to the program would suggest that there's nothing wrong with my bluetooth settings - it's only syncing which isn't working

what do you mean by setting down the OBEX-packetsize? is this something that's likely to have been affected by upgrading my OS?

the thing it seems to get stuck on when syncing always seems to be either "receiving status" or "read timezone from phone"
an error message then pops up saying either

Kudos to sputnick for myphoneinstaller3.4.bash. Works for my K610i.

I was previously running v1.6.1, so I didn't run these 2 steps: I also did not uninstall v1.6.1 prior to running myphoneinstaller3.4.bash. It works.

Sorry, i didn't ask which version you're using otherwise i would have recommended to upgrade to version 1.7.
Good thing that it is working now for you!

i've discovered that attempting to do obex-push to my phone via the nautilus right-click menu doesn't work either, although browsing and sending to the device through the bluetooth manager works fine...

Now USB sync work for me but when bluetooth connection is started, it opens COM2 and finally says "Phone could not be identified".
Any idea?

Hi everybody,

first thanks a lot for the "porting" of MPE to Ubuntu. This is exactly what i needed (especially the script ).
Unfortunatly it doesn't run as smooth as i hoped. After runnung the script and starting MPE i don't have the possibility to choose "COM 1". There only is a Com0, and there for the mobil isn't found.

My System :

Ubuntu 8.10
FJS Amilo Pa 2548
Sony Ericsson K800i
USB cable

Can anybody help?

As I just realized, all days in MPE are shown as "Monday"... That's not fair, if only it would be "Sunday". Wink

But seriously, how can i change this?

Ok, now COM1 works (i just had to write in in Capitals... ).

But after naming the Mobile and syncing the MPE crashes and is unwilling to start again... any ideas?

I do have all Days, It connects to my phone, only thing is... i can't sync with more than one google calendar.

Hi guys,

last version of the script was not tested for bluetooth as I said before.
The good news is I have a blueetooth dongle now, so I can test it.
When I will have a second or two, I'll work on it.
