missing contact data

Hello,

I synchronized Outlook2007 with my Xperia X10 mini pro (Android 2.1) and was very happy to see my contacts appear.
But some contacts are missing information, in outlook there is this field called "car phone" which is simply not showing on the phone.

Do you have a list of contact fields that are synchronized and contact fields that disappear when moving from Outlook to Android (or the other way around)?
I may then edit my contacts to only use the fields that are synchronized. It would be quite a task, so I'm open to suggestions.

(I only use outlook as a means of backing up contacts and calendar, figuring any smartphone would synch out of the box with it - great job with this software)

Thanks!

Jörg

Go take a look at this forum posting ... http://androidforums.com/droid-how-tips ... ncing.html ... Someone did the leg work to figure out which fields are synced to Google/Android (though it isn't that straight-forward to understand the way it's laid out). You'll note that the 'car' field isn't synced. I know the 'mobile' field is though so can you use that? Or is it a fixed car phone? (Thought those disappeared in the mid90s ...!).

I must admit it's tempting to write my own contacts database so that all possible fields (Outlook + Google + Android + others) are catered for AND it's extensible ..... Trouble is my coding experience is Fortran ... a LONG time ago ....

Thanks! The list is perfect; just what I was looking for!

I have some contacts that have a large number of phonenumbers; I used the car-number to store an iridium satellite number. :) Before I used Windows Mobile and Symbian, and I made sure all fields worked there. There are not that many contacts that give problems, and knowing which fields are not synchronized will help me a lot! I estimate one evening working in Outlook to alter the contacts, then erase all my phones and then resynchronize. (the Android phone is new; and I was planning to do this after my "experimentation").

As a precaution, I did a one-way sync. Anythoughts what would happen with a 2 way sync? Would the car number be removed or would it be kept in Outlook?

Perhaps something for the wishlist: entry in log file for data dat is lost/not synchronized due to incompatible fields... Or more complicated: a custom mapping to allow one to set which fields match together...

Thanks again!
