The application is the perfect replacement for the Activesync that used to work with windows mobile. Wanted to know if there is capability or an plan in future to support this one extremely useful thing activesync used to do, reverse tethering.

Basically, the ability to access to the internet / network via your computer once it is connected through the usb cable. There are lots of benefits for this especially in countries where data costs are really high.

I know the new set of HTC S series android phones ( Incredible / Wildfire / HD ) support this through their custom HTC sync with an option called Internet Pass Through.

Technically it would mean some kind of port forwarding with a component running on the computer to manage it. Since MPE is anyways installed would this possible ?

A solution throught USB Cable is not possible cause the phone does not detect the USB-Interface as usable network

Thank you for the confirmation. I agree that Connectify.me is usable solution, however that requires windows 7 with a wifi card. Also just for the record there are circumstances where a device would be required to be connected to a desktop PC such as offices where it would be be possible due to security to connect to the wireless router.

any possibility to bring this into MPE?

I go often to a customer place where there is no WiFi but cabled LAN so reverse tethering would be real great.

Besides, another place has a proxy in place so most apps from my phone edn up been useless. Under activesync proxy'ing were handled by the PC transparently to the phone.

In any case, could you take advantage of the server (on the PC) and the client (on the phone) pieces of SW to implement it?

I recall there were some opensource projects doing the same (reverse tethering by implementing both the client and the server parts). Taking advantage of MPE would be great.
