Lotus Notes email addresses are broken

Hi,
I have noticed that MPE converts Lotus Notes addresses to full Domino-style Distinguished Names, and brakes them.

A Lotus Notes address in the format "Donald Duck/Germany/COMPANY@COMPANYDE" is initially displayed in MPE as "CN=Donald Duck/OU=Germany/O=COMPANY@COMPANYDE". This probably shouldn't be happening, but it may be acceptable as long as both formats work. After the restart of MPE the address is scrambled further and becomes "CNnald Duck/OUrmany/OMPANY@COMPANYDE". This is not good at all.

The sync discovers the discrepancy above and updates the email addresses in both MPE and the phone. However, some addresses contain binary characters (displayed as "CNÚniel Duck/OUrmany", ie "CN=Be" becomes "CN¾n", "CN=Da" becomes "CNÚ", "CN=Fe" turns into "CNþ") and will not be overwritten!

Obviously, there are several bugs here.
What would be the best way to report this?

- Model of your phone (SE Xperia Mini Pro SK17i, Android 2.3.3)
- Type of connection (USB)
- MPE-version (MPE 1.8.1)
- Windows version (Win7 x64)
- Lotus Notes 8.5.3

Thanks,
moose

Hi,

I have the same Problem. All adresses with Lotus Notes email Adress seems to be changed every time I sync. In my case that are more than 200.

I never had this behaviour.
Is the Field "O" always the mailaddress ? or better: Would it be correct to use the value right of /O= ?

Thank you for your response.

This error is very easy to recreate.
0. Set the MPE sync to overwrite phone from Notes.
1. Add a new contact with the email address Daniel Duck/Germany/COMPANY@COMPANYDE
2. Synchronize with MPE
3. The email address is converted into CN=Daniel Duck/OU=Germany/O=COMPANY@COMPANYDE
Even though this format may still work in Notes, this transformation shouldn't be happening.
4. Note that the address CN=Daniel Duck/OU=Germany/O=COMPANY@COMPANYDE has been stored in the phone.
5. Close MPE and start it again
6. The address now has been completely scrambled to CNÚniel Duck/OUrmany/OMPANY@COMPANYDE
7. Sync and confirm that the corrupt email address CNÚniel Duck/OUrmany/OMPANY@COMPANYDE has been stored in the phone
8. The consequent synchronization attempts will not update the email field in MPE (and not in the phone either), probably because of some binary crap displayed as Ú.

Please note that the string to the right of "O", COMPANY@COMPANYDE is not an Internet-style email address (which should be daniel.duck@company.de)

@COMPANYDE is a Notes Domain (DE is an abbreviation for Germany)

The same for me

Exactly the same issue with my new Samsung Galaxy S2 (GT-I9100 - Gingerbread.JPKG2 - Android 2.3.3).

That didn't happen with my former Sony-Ericson, using the same computer on Windows XP 2002 service pack 3, and Lotus Note 6.5.

Thanks

Hi FJ!
I have tested v1.8.2, and it appears to work correctly, the addresses are no longer scrambled. Thank you very much!

As far as full DN format is concerned, it may simply depend on the fact that when you retrieve a dspEmail/fullname from Lotus Notes, some more recent versions of Notes , such as 8.5.3, will send the email address in this format. It is also possible that older Notes versions had a different behavior.

Anyway, both formats work fine, and, with one-way sync, it is not really a concern. With two-way synchronization it may be confusing though.
