Hi all

I just now had to reset my phone. Luckily I am able to transfer the data from the PC to the phone.

Now what happens when the PC has to be reset? What folders do I need to take care of?

So that on formatting the PC and reinstalling MPE, I can restore and get MPE working as before the format.

Please advise

Thanks and regards
Bhavbhuti

Hi,

first and most important thing is to backup your MPE data (Menu File > Extras > Create backup) and save this backup to an external storage, i.e. an USB drive.
If you want to be on save site, you can also export all important data like contacts, calendar, etc. to an external storage.
Least, you can also make a backup copy from folder %appdata%\MyPhoneExplorer, where MPE's saves it's data.

If you've done that, you can format and reinstall your machine, download MyPhoneExplorer again from FJ's homepage and install it.

best regards...

Thanks Mr. Deauville

I have configured in File > Settings > Advanced 2 > Database to reside within My Documents folder (files with .dat and .xml extensions) so I think I should be fine on point 3 you mentioned. Please correct me if I am wrong in assuming that the whole folder where I have configured Database is all that is required to be overwritten after the format.

Where is the Settings details stored? In the Registry? If so which branch I can export so all I need to do after installation is double click the .reg file

Which is efficient, to rely on File > Extras > Create Backup / Restore Backup or the folder I have saved above?

Please advise

Thanks and regards

Settings are also stored in MPE's database folder (settings.dat).

To be on save site, i'm always doing both.
