Text Message Memory Over 95% Full

Verfasst: Mi 10. Jan 2007, 23:11

After deleting all my text messages with MPE (using W810i), the message "Text Message Memory Over 95% Full" is displayed, every time i send a text message from the phone.

When checking the phone memory status with MPE, it only tells me, that only 3 out of 200 text messages are in phone memory.

Allthough the text messages are deleted, it doesn't seem that the phone is updated correctly.

Also a new message comes in, and it is deleted in MPE, the icon for new message in the phone display still appears.

Its a bug inside the phone. The problem should disappear after a few restarts.

Hello,
This is my first post so I must congratulate FJ on this wonderful software.
However I am having the same issue, I read in another forums that MyPhoneExplorer does not actullay delete the SMS from the phone and by deleting the SMS from the MyPhoneExplorer window we are left with ghot sms that will decrease the already small 200 messages limit size.
Is this true?

Will some few restarts fix the problem?

Thank you

Hi Lazze,

Did the restarts work with you?

Thank you

Its how i said. The Bug is NOT inside MyPhoneExplorer. Its a problem of some phones. If nothing helps you have to make a master-reset

I have that problem too with my w810... I didn´t reset, just delete all messages from the phone (that somehow clears the amount of SMS in the phone memory) and everything goes fine :)

I had the same problem..
If you delete all your text messages with MPE you should try to delete everything again in your phone menu. Last time i did that the problem was gone...

Hi Guys,

I have deleted all messages and restored the one i needed from MPE but that did not solve the problem.
I am getting the 95% memory full while only having 58 messages in total in my Inbox, Sent Messages and Saved Meassages folders.
This is really annoying :cry:

HELP!!!!

A simple solution that works for me is to wait for a new message to arrive, and delete it from the phone rather than MPE. This appears to purge the messages as far as the phone is concerned. Annoying, but if it's a flaw in the phone, it's a flaw in the phone.

hi guys

whether you know or not
in sony ericsson phones even the delivery reports consume the message memory and it is hidden and not visible like ireport in nokia

to find out this

first u check out the msg memory status in ur phone

then send a message from the phone with delivery report on

now you can see msgs memory is taken as 2 is consumed for sending a single msg

and u can even check it by deleting a single sent msg u can see the msg memory is freed by 2msgs

thank u

maddy, of course NOT. You are wrong.

maddy is in right. Some older models have this behavior. But it should been fixed since the K750 - series.

For everyone which has this problem: It will disappear if you receive, read and delete the next few messages only using the phone keypad.

Well... I've never encounter this problem, neither in old nor new models, and I've been using: T65, T310, T290, K700, K750, K810, K550, T650. Also I've never heard of it - must be really rare thing only in some specimens.

ok guys i dont know abt other models

but in my phone K300i i observed tat it is consuming 2msg space if a msg is sent with delivery report option on

i observed this using MPE only

actually my phone msg capacity total is 100

when i dont have any msg in my phone it will show in the memory status of MPE as
used = 0
free = 0
total = 100

n if i have 5 sent msgs with delivery report on then in MPE memory status of MPE it will show as
used = 5
free = 90
total = 95

so the delivery report is eating away my total memory
which can be observed only in MPE

I have experienced the same problem with my sister's K310, circa 10 months old one. New firmware and master reset eventually helped, while nothing else did. The same happened to my K320 today. I have it just for 4 months - quite unexpected. Now I am deciding whether to do the master reset or not as I don't want to (do that now and then) - annoying.

The only thing the phones have in common is that both of are using MPE - to me it seems that the program might be buggy that it just does not really delete the messages.

I'd have a look to the german forum whether I could find any solution there, however, my german is quite poor and while both EN+DE are not my native laguages...who knows ;-)

oops (sorry) the first one - "...both of us..." of course
the second one - I missed FJ's explanation, I'd like to apologize for that and for a quite meaningless post. However, delivery reports did not consume any space in my case. The other thing strange to me was that the amount of messaging was much higher in her case than in mine and it had happened within a month.

Perhaps we would rather try to find a solution than to blame anything for that. ;-)

I searched long time for a malfunction in MyPhoneExplorer - but i'm sure its a common problem in some models of SE. Up to yet the problem disappeared on every user if you don't use the Interface of MyphoneExplorer to delete messages. If you get a message - read and delete it on the phone. After some messages the counter will be correct again.

Pity that nobody knows the way to reset the phone's counter upon user's request. There would have been an easy solution in making a routine to reset it after any message was received/sent/deleted.

AFAIK there is no way to reset the messagecounter from external software
