I am seeing that updated appointments in outlook are not being treated correctly. When someone sends me an appointment and then updates it, MPE seems to be creating two calendar entries for it, the original and the update. Its almost as though the original one is not being deleted after the update.
Worse, I see this even when the update(s) happened before the sync i.e. if I get an original appointment, then an update, MPE should see only the updated version in outlook, but it seems to get both and upon sync, my phone and MPE on PC has both the appointments.
I believe this also happens when appt. details like location or subject etc are updated and even when only time changes are updated on the appointment.
Have others observed this behavior?
Thanks,
ML |

Hmm, never heard of this issue, please try the current beta: http://www.fjsoft.at/files/MyPhoneExplorer_DebugUpdate.exe
I changed alot of things regarding Outlook in the beta |

Thanks, FJ, for the prompt reply. I tried the current beta (April 9 build) and before that I did a controlled test. I made sure in the last released version (1.82) everything else (contacts, notes, other appointments and tasks) were completely in sync between Outlook and my (Android) phone, and only a couple of appointments that had updates (to reproduce the problem) were left un-synced (I let it show me what it was about to change and during confirmation, I canceled it). I figured this way, I would see the change in behavior clearly when I used the current build, but it didn't work quite that way.
I think there may have been some change in the way data is handled, since I got a lot of sync confirmations with this version - many where it told me the phone was more up-to-date than my Outlook (note: per my experiment, I had NOTHING new on Outlook or phone except 2 calendar appt updates). This was true of contacts, calendar and tasks, as well as notes. Since I didn't want it to overwrite my main Outlook database, I changed it to force Outlook->Phone assuming that these were due to the version change. Ironically I had to do it 2-3 times before it was all sync-ed up and did not show any new updates on the phone.
Anyway, it appears that the original problem is no longer there in this version (though I need to test it more with externally sent appointments), so that is good news. But somehow I notice that there is some issue with the sync (even Outlook -> MPE database). In my contacts "Title" and "website" in Outlook are no longer being synced to MPE or phone (maybe other fields too). I noticed these since this was the major difference why MPE was thinking that the phone was more updated than MPE.
So, in summary: original calendar update generating multiple appts on phone seems to be fixed (more testing pending), but some other field mapping during sync seems to have been lost - at the very least "Title" and "website" (I know they were OK earlier since I had taken screenshot of one of the contacts on the phone which had this correct earlier).
PS: Is there a way to set (or at least see) mapping of fields from Outlook to phone?
Thanks,
ML |

Hi FJ,
Follow-up to my previous post. I forced Outlook->phone sync and still some the fields (Title etc) were missing in the phone. Then I deleted all contacts in MPE and forced Outlook -> MPE sync and everything was fine. The missing fields got repopulated.
So it does seem like some field mapping changed between the prev build and this one.
Also, the contact sync-ing for my 2500+ contacts is now blazing fast (was taking a lot of time earlier even to see no changes). Thank you for this awesome improvement!

Jsut tested Title and Website - seems to be OK. Are you able to reproduce the problem ?

Good to hear. What do you think how much faster the sync now is ? 2 times, 3 times faster ? |

I can only testify to my own set of data but my issue was that it used to be linear with how big my contact database was and not how many changes happened. For my approx 2.5K contacts it went from taking 4-5 minutes or even more (even if there were no changes) to go through it to identify the changes or lack thereof. This is now about 20-30 seconds at most and it also seems to be slightly dependent on number of changes (i.e. slightly faster in that range if no changes). I have not figured out if it is any faster if the overall contacts database was smaller but it may not be if it is only looking at the incremental changes somehow. So about a 10x speedup in my case though the variables seem to be both the size of the database and number of changes so YMMV. |

Hi FJ,
Sorry, not very good on forums and can't figure out how to start a new topic. This one looks close.
Have new Motorola Razr. Need it to sync with Outlook (2010) on Win7. Found that MPE is the only thing out there that looks professional.
Downloaded the app MPE Client to phone. Downloaded drivers and MPE applicaiotn to PC. Seems to be working fine and I can remote control the phone over the USB connection.
I cannot figure out how to get MPE to sync with my Outlook contacts, calandar and tasks. I have email working direclty through a different app, so thats fine.
Sorry if this is a stupid question. My last smartphone is 5 year old Bberry.
Thanks! |

Enable the sync to Outlook in the settings and then start the sync |

Maybe you added the event in the wrong calendar in Outlook. Are "normal" events correctly synced ? |
