Deleting recurring entry today & forward NOT synching

Beitrag von Nickie »

I deleted PART of a recurring entry (today and forward), but then this did not sync with my computer. Outlook 2003/ XP still shows all those future events. I'm using 1.8.4. Can anyone help?

When I say I deleted them, I deleted them in the phone. As far as I can tell, you cannot delete "today and forward" for recurring events in Outlook 2003. But the items are still in Outlook. Can anyone help please? I would like it to sync both ways as the setting says.

The event is deleted in the phone, but not Outlook.

I can't help with this specific problem but I can say that recurring events do seem to be a problem when synchronising calendars, especially if they have been edited like this one. I'm not talking about MPE specifically, though you should 'search' for other issues with recurring events in this forum, but also other sync processes and even within Outlook itself (I have seen several threads on Microsoft forums discussing recurrance that doesn't ..... ). I try to minimise the possibilty of problems occuring in the first place so do one of two things.

1) if changing a single one of a series of recurring events, instead of just changing that one 'occurance' I will end the recurrance at the previous event, add the 'changed' event as a one-off then add the remaining events as a new recurrance from the next event.

2) just add each event as a single event and 'copy and paste' within Outlook. That way you have no recurring events and thus no problems arising.

I tend to use (2) almost exclusively since I found out that within Outlook you can use <CNTL> c and <CNTL> v in the calendar to copy and paste (try finding copy and paste in the menus! - Outlook 2010 anyway).

Works for me though others may disagree .....

Copy Appointments and Events in Outlook

Hi dvhttn,

You can also hold down control and drag and drop to copy calendar entries in Outlook.

Thank you for these suggestions. Another workaround I've tried is.... leaving the recurring entry as is, but adding additional information for a particular date in its own separate entry.

When I drag and drop, it actually moves the event to a different day.

I plan to try (1) and (2) - thanks again dvhttn
