Can´t connect my Se X10 mini pro! What´s wrong?

Beitrag von guenterg »

Hi there!

This is my first real tryout of this program, and I have sat here for hours now, and I cannot get the damn program to connect to my phone!

I have tried first on a friends computer, and now on mine with the same result. I am however running Windows XP through Parallels on my Mac, but since I can se and access the phone perfectly in every other way (I have Sonys PC companion too running through Parallels, and can browse manually, same natively through the Mac), and the result is no different from my friend who runs Win7 native, I don´t think that is the problem.

I´m connecting via USB.
I have installed the ADB drivers om my operating system (whatever that it). Taken from Sonys website. There were drivers for both AMD64 and i386, I hope Windows got the right ones.
I have set the phone to USB debug.
I have not mounted the phone.

The phone runs Android v1.6. An old SE X10 mini pro.
It works fine in both Sony PC companion, Sony bridge for Mac as well as browsing in Windows XP, both natively and in virtual machine, Win 7 and Mac OS X 10.6.8.

What happens is that after I pushed Connect, MPE shows a progress bar which never fills up, and after e few seconds simply says "Can´t connect" and nothing happens on the phone. That´s the most recent. Before that, MPE said "Unable to connect to phone. No device connected to USB", and on the phone, despite the PC program said there was no connection, there was always a message displayed saying "Sorry! The process com.fjsoft.myphoneexplorer.client for the program MyPhoneExplorer was unexpectadly halted/stopped. Try again" and the only button to push says "Force a shutdown". Often it showed up several times, even after I unplugged the cable.

When I look at the list of apps on my phone, I see there have been added 3. MyPhoneExplorer, MPE - tasks and MPE - notes. If I try to open any of them separately, the same error message shows up again.

Here´s the logfile:

I would like to try to download the phone app and install manually, but where can I find that? I've read that it is available on Android market, but I have not access to that. Is there no place on the regular Internet? Why not have it on this webpage?

I have read that many people have had the same problem as I (http://www.swedroid.se/my-phone-explore ... wifi-tips/) and several of them have downloaded the app from Android market and got it to work. So I would like to try this.

But even if I get the app, how do I install it on the phone?

Please help me with this! I would gladly donate 30€ if this thing works. This looks way better than any vendor made program out there.

At last! It works now! After surfing around and half randomly searching for something that could lead me to a clue of a solution, I stumbled upon this: http://www.fjsoft.at/forum/viewtopic.php?p=75409#75409 with the very important link http://www.fjsoft.at/mpeclient.apk .

But since I cannot use the Andriod market, I had to figure out a way to install it outside the market. After a while I found this: apkinstall.com/

And my suspicions were right. The phone app was malfunctionning. Now it worked perfectly! I hope it stays this way.

This thing with phone app should be included in the FAQ/user guide.

I managed to copy and backup my 11000+ SMS:es just for your information.

This is all so stupid. Why are phones so tied up? They have been able to connect to computers for a decade now, and in recent years are filled technology and are essentially pocket computers. But you can still not make the device interact with other devices. It´s like an isolated technological island, were content can be viewed received, but not copied or extracted in any way. What´s on the phone, stays on the phone. If it dies, all is gone. It´s a minor miracle that pictures can be withdrawn... I mean, even on the "open" Android phones there is a built in memory that is separated from everything else, and can´t be accessed in any usual way without trix and hacks.

And as for the author of this, I think you should be more dedicated to this.

As I understand it, this program has been around for a very long time, before phones had this hype and position in todays society. People are making millions on apps nowadays. Some at least.

This program is absolutely outstanding! There is nothing like it! I mean, come on, the phone vendors have had years to come up with anything like this, and phones are cutting edge tech, but this ugly gap lasts.
I read in comments here and there that business people are actually relying on this in their work, and would happily pay for a stable product.

You should try to make this a more stable and reliable program, and make more money out of it. Not necessarily a clean paid product, but perhaps a fremium model would suit. Maybe not a set fee, but any amount the user wishes.

Spread the word! Make banners. Make a Facebook page. Make the user manual on the website directly. Forums scare non-tech people away.
Get someone else involved who can be on the forums, on Facebook, maintain the webpage etc.

About your initial problem: Inbetween we have only a few devices running on Android 1.6 and only one version of the client (i think it was 1.0.20) had the issue on Android 1.6 which makes the app crashing on launch. The setup of Version 1.8.4 does host also client version 1.0.23, it gets installed automatically if there is no client installed.

About my "strategy":
I know about the potential of MyPhoneExplorer, and i also know that i could swap on a more professional way years ago. But i would be not happy with such a solution, it would make more headache then happiness. I started this project as hobby - in my free time. In my real life i have another job, completly outside of IT business - and i love this job. Inbetween it has become very difficult to manage MyPhoneExplorer alone, there is no time for marketing and to be honest - i have so much work that it cannot be the target to generate even more users. I am on the edge, but cause personal reasons it is what it is: A hobby project

By the way: I don't want to sound arrogant but i think MyPhoneExplorer is more stable and reliable than many other - even paid - solutions. The diffrence is that i make no secret about user problems so you might think there are all the time problems. Other companies have their support teams with a ticket system and so you'll have never an objective view if a solution is really stable
