Load a back up file without any phone connected

Beitrag von user_deleted »

Hello everyone,

I have been using MPE 1.8.4 with my Android Phone over the last months.

Recently I simultaneously :
- lost my phone
- reinstalled my Windows and so for the MPE software.

I have my back up folder with the .mpb file and so on, but it seems it's impossible for the software to load this back up if the phone is not connected.
Is there any possibility?
I need it because I could retrieve all my contacts.

I have set up the back up folder in Settings > Advanced 2 > Database. But it seems the software doesn't check it unless the phone is connected.

Thanks in advance for your support, I hope MPE can effectively be used as a back up software in case one lose their phone...

Start MyPhoneExplorer, go to contact list, right click and select import from context menu. Now select the backup file you have.
If you don't have any profile in MPE, go to %appdata%\MyPhoneExplorer and create a new folder like "DUMMY [012345678912345]" first.

best regards...

Thanks for your quick answer.

Seems like MPE hasn't created any folder %appdata%/MyPhoneExplorer yet.
Am I supposed to create it in Local, LocalLow or Roaming ? (My PC is 64 bits).

By default MyPhoneExplorer creates it's data folder under Roaming.
i.E. C:\Users\<name>\AppData\Roaming\MyPhoneExplorer
You can also have a look under File > Settings > Advanced 2 what's the current database path.

best regards...

Thanks you lifesaver!
(Can't believe my PC died then a couple of days later my phone hard bricked! Luckily i had a backup from only a month or so ago, but couldn't pull the data to a new phone from a new PC until I read your post)
