Hello MyPhoneExplorer team,
I am developer of applications for Pda (Visual basic). But it's mostly obsolet. So, recently I changed my wonderfull Pda HP-4700 for a Sony Xperia L. In this change I needed an application to sync the information between Outlook-2003 (Telephone numbers, calendar, notes and tasks) and the new device with Android. And I founded your application. It's almost marvellous because it do exactly what I need, and even more. And it include the language Catalan, amazing! But I founded some important mistakes. I wanted to send you a donation but I still can not do it because it doesn't work properly.
-Sync contacts: I have lost several telephone numbers when sync this information. Specially telephone numbers, not other information as notes o adress. Fortunatelly I already have this numbers in the Pda but now I will have to introduce them by hand. I have lost the field "Group" as well. I assigned all the contacts to an especific gruop but some of them have been losted.
In the window "Confirmation for the synchronisation" (Translation from catalan), the mouse wheel sometimes work, sometimes not. I did some checkings but I can't see when it works and when it doesn't.
-Calendar, tasks and notes work perfectly. I like specially your application MPE tasks. I use it a lot (since one month ago).
-Files: I think I don't understand how it works. I was expecting that it works like the ActiveSync of Microsoft. I mean, there is a copy of the files of the device in the specific folder in the computer. And when you change a file in the phone it's copied in the computer. And vice versa, when you change a file in the computer it's copied to the phone. But not, this second option doesn't work. Instead of this it's deleted from the computer and from the phone.

I'm not sure if here is the best place to let you know my impressions.
Be sure that my intention is not to critiqued your application because in this case I just have to let to use it. I'm conscious that there is a lot of work behind this program and I think it's a very good solution for those we still use Outlook and we don't want to have all our information in the cloud. I just want to help you to improve the application to avoid mistakes like I founded.
Fell free to explain me all that you consider better.

Did you check in the MPE client, that the right contact accounts are chosen to be synchronized?

Yes, and I just chose the phone calendar. I think the problem appears when I tried to sync the phone with the computer via wifi or Bluetooth (which I couldn't). I normally connect via USB cable. If I don't change the way of sync seems to work well (I'm talking about contacts).
Please tell me more about sync of files.

What you see unter "Files" in the MPE is like a Filebrowser.
It´s not meant to sync your files live.
In the settings for the multisync you can set a sync for your files but that will only start when you do a multisync.

Contacts:
What was the initial story ? Did you use MyPhoneExplorer to create all contacts from Outlook in your phone ? If yes - which telephone numbers are mising ? Is there any pattern ?

Same for groups: They are synced with the category-field of Outlook. was the missing "Group" located in Outlook before the sync ? Does it still exist in Outlook ?

Especially on sync issues its essential for me to know how the problem appeared and where data are wrong/missing. And its too very helpfully to know if the data in MyPhoneExplorer are equal to the phone - this helps to locate the problem.

File sync: If you choosed the bidirectional sync option then it should work this way. Are you able to reproduce the issue (files will be deleted if they were changed on computer) ?

I also have a problem with the file sync. Most of the time (80%) it works, but the other 20% of the time, it thinks that some directories need to delete all the files on my computer's directory when it should not.

I'm using 1.8.5 on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit and Samsung Galaxy S4.

If I force computer over the phone it will create new entry in phone, except instead, it creates duplicate files with a " (1)" appended to the file name. It also takes a long time to copy all the files over to the phone again. Then when I sync the files again a second time, it will like to delete all the files with a " (1)" in the file name.

To me, it seems as if one file is changed, the program throws off all of the other files' index numbers and the synch function acts as if everything no longer exists so it thinks it needs to delete them. I currently have 7 different directories set to synch. After my last synch, I only edited one or two Excel files on the computer (from different directories) and added some camera photos on the phone (also a separate directory) and then on the next synch, the program thought three directories on the computer needed to have its files deleted.

The workaround in most cases is to force the computer to copy over to the phone again with the exception of some files on the phone that shouldn't be deleted, and then synch a 2nd time to get rid of the duplicate files with the " (1)" at the end.

I'm using MPE 1.8.5 since a week for sycnhronization between Outlook and Android Smartphone.
The problem is as follows: diactritic letters (such as Ś, ź) being displayed properly in Outlook contacts are inproperly sychnronized, giving sign "?" in most of cases (both in MPE on a PC and in Smartphone contacts). When corrected inside of MPE PC application, create incorrect character inside Outlook contact, but correct entry in Android smartphone.
I experienced such behaviour with Outlook 2002 and 2010.
I'm using Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate.

I found another workaround for when the files don't synch up properly.

If the synch looks like it is bugged then abort synch. Exit the MyPhoneExplorer desktop program and launch it again. Then try to synch one of the directories that was bugged and see if it works properly. If it synched properly then try another directory or all directories. If it appears bugged again, then exit the desktop program and repeat steps until all directories are synched.

@benjos: Please send me the logfile after a Sync where at least one (1)-File was created and tell me the filename of it - via email. I think it was not possible to delete the existing file and so MyPhoneExplorer creates the file with a new filename.

@mave: You have to Change the Format of your Outlook.pst file to Unicode, not A´NSI

following instructions from Microsoft regarding conversion of outlook file into unicode found here http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlo ... 38351.aspx I created new file with imported folders.
Now MPE during sync shows message "Loading entries from Outlook failed!" and aborts syncing whathever: contacts, calendar, notes, etc.
I'm using Outlook 2010.

I found reason of the error.
MPE needed to update folder locations in sync settings. Problem is solved.

I forgot to check the forum so I don't have a log file to send.

I haven't had the problem for 5 weeks since I removed my camera photo directory from the File-Sync job. Then on my PC, I moved most of the photos out into other directories. Then I set up File-Sync jobs for the camera photo directory and other photo directories. I had about 670 files in the camera directory before I moved them.

I also just updated MyPhoneExplorer on the phone to the new version that came out and completed one sync successfully without problems.
