When I try to set up sync with Outlook 2010 in Windows 8.1, MPE just terminates. What is missing ???

If the issue is still there then post the logfile directly after the crash.
Start->Run->%appdata%\MyPhoneExplorer\debug.txt->OK

Problem was with Outlook. Folders were not created correctly.
After correct initialization of Outlook MPE works correctly.
Also tested with release version of 1.8.5.

Problem in short:
When setting up sync with Outlook, and selecting advanced, MPE terminates if Outlook folders are not set up correctly.

Remark to debug version:
As for debug.txt - no debug file was created in the location specified.
Monitoring MPE with Sysinternals/Procmon: it does not seem to try to create debug.txt

This issue is also fixed in the beta

Hi. The beta also failed until I got Outlook fixed.
