Known issue of Android KitKat. You have to set MyPhoneExplorer Client as Standard-SMS-App to avoid this issue

Thank U.
Maybe there is an opportunity to improve MPE, to present the sent messages (in MPE) without splitting. In this version there is not possible forwarding a long message to another contact.

thought it would be strange to need to change a setting on the phone since MPE was working on my old computer but not on my new computer but I thought I'd give it a try.

I change the setting on the phone from Media Device to Camera and restarted both the computer and phone. This did not solve the problem.

So I reverted back to my original setting "Media Device". When I did this it can up with a prompt on the phone to allow my new computer to "access debugging" (sorry I forgot to get the proper prompt or screenshot).

Once I said allow my new computer access MPE started to work fine and I was able to sync my phone with my Outlook.

Go into MPE on the PC with the phone connected and try to delete a SMS. A box will pop up on the PC telling you to 'select MPE client as default SMS application' or something like that.

You will see the option selected on the phone, press it.

Your standard phone SMS application will now not work, however, and when you open that SMS application you will get a similar prompt to set _that_ application to be the SMS application.

Android KitKat has restricted access to the SMS database, only one application is allowed access to the SMS database at a time. It's a pain.

I'm experiencing the « split SMS » syndrom, as a lot of you, I can see...

But I'm still trying to find an easy (or not too complicated) way around.

As of today : Samsung GS5 (SM-G901F), running Android 4.4.4 (version KTU84P.G901FXXUANI4), stock ROM from Bouygues Telecom (France), rooted.
  • When I have the message default application set to "Messages", the SMS's sent via MPE are split. Not unexpected, would you say ?)
  • When I change the default app to "MPE client", SMS's sent via MPE are OK, but "Messages" is continuously bugging me to switch back to itself. And if I don't, I cannot send SMS's from the application (icon is greyed, typing box displays "Impossible d'envoyer des messages / Impossible to send messages")
  • If I accept to have "Messages" as my default app, I'm back to square one.
  • And if I freeze "Messages" using Titanium Backup Pro, well, guess what ?...
Any workaround to help with this ?

Does anyone know of a messageing app that would be "MPE-friendly", and not trying every time to push it away from the center of the stage ?

I've been unsing MPE for years, it's a grrrrreat piece of software, couldn't do without it.

Thanks for reading me and best regards,

François

Hello again !

I've been searching deep thtrough the topics about split SMS's, I found that the answer is... « there is no aswer... yet. »

And I discovered SMS Popup. Doesn't help with the problem, but a cool app.

Sorry for degrading the signal/noise ratio, FJ :-)

The answer is, that Android forces users to choose one single sms app.
In the older versions users where allowed to have several sms apps equaly running. This has changed and is unlikely to be changed backwards.
