Connection to Outlook Failed
Connection to Outlook Failed
Windows XP SP2
Outlook 2003
SE 810i
*just got the phone fully charged but it says "Inactive Smartchip". Trying to get it all set up and ready to use once my number ports over.
When I select File/Options/Sync/Outlook 2003, then try to sync both my contacts and calendar, it says "Connection to Outlook Failed". If I try it with just the contacts or just the calendar...same problem.
Also, xxx on Advanced says "Folder Structure from Outlook could not be listed"
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Alan

Thank you for the quick reply.
I tried that, and am unable to complete the repair. I get another window which says "Error 1311. Source file not found: C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\WZSE0.TMP\SKU0E0.CAB. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it. Retry/Cancel"
Ideas? I was unable to find this missing file on any of my other work computers.
Thanks again.

Problems connecting to Outlook in V1.7.3+
I have a similar problem; If I use V1.7.2 of MyPhoneExplorer (a great tool btw) then everything works fine in terms of setting up sync of contacts, calendar and notes towards Outlook (I am using Vista OS and Outlook 2007), but when upgrading to V1.7.3 or V1.7.4 then I get the message "Folder structure from Outlook could not be listed!" when xxx on the "Advanced..." -button next to contacts/calendar/notes -setup in the Sync -page in the Settings -window. If I downgrade back to V1.7.2 it worked again.
Strangely enough - the 4th or 5th time I tried to click the "Advanced..." -button using V1.7.4 it was suddenly able to get the folder-structure from Outlook, and things were working. No idea why.

Yes. Once V1.7.4 suddenly started working with Outlook it kept on working each time I fired it up (surviving reboots, etc.), but I upgraded to V1.7.5 today, and now I am back at the same problem (not being able to sync towards Outlook). I finally did get to choose folders from Outlook in the sync -config, but when I tried syncing f.ex. notes then it was just "frozen" on the sync-dialog saying "Please wait... Syncing notes... Initiating sync..."

I initially thought that a "local" sync would work fine, but I changed into having File -> Settings -> Sync -> Notes -> "Only MyPhoneExplorer", and it then also says "Please wait... Syncing notes... Initiating sync..." - the only difference I can see between the two cases (where it just hangs forever on that window while the green Vista progress-bar is sliding slowly from left to right over and over) is that the little Outlook -icon to the left of the "Syncing notes..." -text when MyPhoneExplorer is configured to sync towards Outlook.
When using V1.7.5 and choosing File -> Settings -> Sync -> Contacts [Outlook 2007] -> Advanced... it typically uses a loooong time before showing anything in the "Outlook folder to synchronize:" -input, or even presents a modal error-window with the text "Folder structure from Outlook could not be listed", while doing the same operation in V1.7.2 populates the "Outlook folder to synchronize:" -input quickly with little or no delay.
The phone that I am syncing towards is a S-E W660. As said before I can switch back and forth between installing V1.7.2 (which makes things work again), and V1.7.5 (which is having problems syncing)
I've also got Sony Ericsson PC Suite V6.0 installed on my computer - in case that could be relevant.
Hope that this info can be of any help ;-) ... thank you for your quick replies!

Seems like some combination of if Outlook is running or not during uninstall/install, combined with reboot after install, etc. at some point does the trick in getting MyPhoneExplorer to talk to Outlook (again). I think we'll file this under "problem with user's local computer/setup", rather than the MyPhoneExplorer -application itself. Thank you again for your quick replies.
solved by correcting some Outlook internals
Hi guys!
I had the same problem:
troubles with the Outlook.pst file which could not be repaired by the provided Microsoft tool scanpst.exe forced me to create a new .pst file and copy the stuff from the old to the new file. After that outlook worked but MyPhoneExplorer failed to sync, err message "Folder Structure from Outlook could not be listed".
MyPhoneExplorer Settings/ sync/ -> click advanced button for contacts and notes showed the same error.
Simply creating one test-user in outlook seemed to do some internal, initial, whatever things in the pst-file, MyPhoneExplorer worked from that on again like a charm.
For notes I deleted the notes-folder in outlook and created a new note from within outlook. MyPhoneExplorer advanced settings for notes detected outlook again, I only needed to reselect the folder object in the drop down list and then sync worked again. Notes can be exported to any folder with drag and drop so I had no worries about losing data.

Martin
