Request: Birthday synchronization

Hi,

Could it be possible to update automatically or through menu setting, when i add or have a birthday in my phonenumber list, to have a reminder in the organizer with that name, that would be a great function.

Thanks for the great work, i just discovered the software and it is amazingly good.

sorry for digging this topic from the grave.(2006!)

When a birthday is created, the phone automatically reminds on that date even though no special calendar item is created. But for syncing with Outlook, this bday reminder is not added. So an outlook item has to be created separately and when syncing outlook calendar this gets copied back to phone causing duplicate entries. (this also is not 'Recurrent').

So, does MPE have a solution. I searched the posts for a match. Only found this one.

Thats not true. The phone creates a ruled event in the calendar. If you sync also your Organizer then this ruled event will be also transfered to Outlook.

considering this birthdays sync.. I use w810i and sync it with google calendar.. @ gcal there is remender so i can use PopUp, email or sms motification.. 5,15,etc min or even day before.. so I create birthday reminder at my phone, make it annualy at specific birthday date and after sync all that birthdays are in my google calendar named MyBirthdays.. that's perfect BUT.. reminder is set for all of them to PopUp notification and I wanna change it to SMS so google everytime event occour send me sms.. that problem happen always even if i set default reminder for "myBirthdays" calendar to sms notification.. is it possible to fix it somehow so i can solve it in the other way and not go to each event and change it? maybe adding of these three options (popup,sms,email) to MPE could be solution? in that way i will be able to choose just popup,or just sms, or even all three options.. other solution could be to leave things as is, but if we choose "None" for reminder at Edit event window, u ask us if we wanna set sms notification in case of sync with google cal, but i think 1st one is much better.. if it's possible to implement to MPE.. thank u

one more thing about managing birthdays.. why is not possible to change time of reminding for several events in MPE in appointments secton at same time..? it allow me to select multiple appointments but if i right click at one of them and choose edit after changing it, just that one is changed not others (like it is logical when I select more than one)..
let's say i wanna set 50 of 100 events to remind me at 11am and other 50 at 15h of events date.. so i select desired events change it once and mpe ask me if I'm sure that i wanna change time for all selected,i confirm and all is done.. that could be apply to type (event,birthday,recurrent event), reminder (other,at start, none,etc), to time as I mention in example, duration and all day event checkbox..
I know changing of other boxes on "edit appointment" window could lead to major problems (like accidental loosing events date) so maybe it's safe to disable these if multiple events is selected.. 10q and keep make it best app 4 mobs.. cheers mate

Its hard enought to keep both databases (phone and Google) synchron cause Google has very different limits (f.e. you can set more than one Reminder, but you are not able to set a userdefined time).

I think its OK in the current state. If you like an SMS-Reminder for a event then you can add one in Google.

hmmm..i think it's very easy to import user defined time by importing CSV file but if u say so.. I know i can set it in google but for each event separetly..quite a boring job for let's say 150 events.. this job about adding three ways of notifications should not interfere with both databases cause there is no need to set sms or email reminder in phone database doesn't it?? (phones doesn't have that option) so i suppose those 2 checkbox will be matter just in gcal database and when u already transfer info to gCal u could transfer two more bits.. please think one more time about it.. not just for me but for all of us who respect ur work and all effort u make to write MPE.. 10q mate..
and what about editing more than one event properties at once (from my 2nd post)..?

I use MPE mostly to import/export my phonebook and I have this problem:
Although MPE exports birthdays perfectly, when I import these contacts back to my phone I lose all birthday reminders. I have all these birthdays stored on my phone and I can’t get a reminder unless I manually set one for each contact. Isn’t it possible for MPE to ask if we want reminders to be set automatically after importing contacts from a file?
I have used MPE along with SE W880, W810, W800, K750, T630 and T610 and I always had this same experience.

The birtday-reminder is not a part of the contacts. Its a appointment of the organizer. If you want to set all birthdays in one swap then mark all contacts->rightclick->Format...

I'm trying to get my head around this Birthday field in my contacts.
I have a W850i and if I add a birthday in one of my contacts without choosing a reminder, a calendar post is not created. Only if I chose to have a reminder.
Why is this?
Personally I don't need a birthday reminder but I would very much like to see it in the calendar. Especially in my google calendar.

One more thing, there's no option to delete a birthday from a contact.
I know it sound weird, but if you accidentally created one...?

There is no feature to create a birthday without reminder, you have to reedit the reminder in the calendar.

Yoiu can delete the birthday of a contact by pressing the "Del" Button when the datebox has the focus.
