I got fed up with duplicate contacts appearing in my Nexus 4 every time I synched the Contacts. To fix this I:
- deleted all the phone contacts
- installed My Local Account from the App store
- changed the "Contact Accounts to Sync" setting to Phone and My Local Account
- changed the settings in MPE to now sync ONLY with Outlook
First sync seemed to go OK until I realized a LOT of contacts were missing and I still had some duplicates one of which was usually populated with info and the other one just a name with everything else being blank.
Many rounds of deleting duplicates and re-synching did not seem to work properly. I read a bunch of posts on similar problems here and tried some of the suggested solutions but none worked. One thing I have noticed that may not be right is in the menu to select "Contact Accounts to Sync" Outlook is NOT present to select on the phone however it IS present in the Settings menu under "Sync". Why is it not appearing on the phone?
I also tried forcing the phone contacts to Outlook but it does not sync all contacts and MANY are missing from Outlook even after the forced one way sync so that feature does not seem to work properly.
In MPE, Settings. Sync, Advanced there is an option to "Use Outlook Add In". I tried this and it did nothing but what is it and what is it supposed to do? Should it be on or off?
Thx. |

Hello
- Please correct the contacts in the Outlook folder.
- Delete the contacts in the phone
- Phone => MPE-Client => Settings => contact-accounts to sync only "MyLocalAccount" activate
- MPE => F2 => Sync => Contacts/Sync with => Advanced => Outlook folder to sychronise only one folder activate
- MPE => Contacts => Button "Blue Arrow"
- Sync with the option force Outlook > Mobile Phone
Best regards icke |

Thanks for your advice. Not sure what you mean by "correct the contacts in the Outlook folder". There is nothing wrong with them except I am missing at least 30 or so more contacts that are on the phone but not in Outlook. To do what you are suggesting would mean manually entering them into Outlook first, then deleting everything on the phone again.
Does this not defeat the whole purpose of forcing them from the phone to Outlook using Sync? I would think that it should sync both ways when any differences exist on either side. |

Whence came this 30 Contacts ?
Your problem are two contacts-accounts. MPE supports synchronization with Outlook with only one account
I don't know, where are the 30 contacts, in "Phone" or "MyLocalAccount" ?
You need one flawless account in the phone or one flawless folder in outlook for the first sync. |

- The new contacts were entered into MPE and manually into the phone.
- Contacts are all in "My Local Account" which I started using as the duplicates coming from Google were endless.
- The phone side is flawless.
I don't understand why the "Force Phone -> Outlook" does not move everything over. |

thanks for your info!
Are all contacts in "My Local Account" flawless, then :
- Phone => MPE-Client => Settings => contact-accounts to sync only "MyLocalAccount" activate
- MPE => Contacts => Button blue arrow "Download entire"
- MPE => F2 => Sync => Contacts/Sync with => Advanced => Outlook folder to sychronise only one folder activate
- Sync with the option force Mobile Phone > Outlook one time |

Thanks for the advice. Sadly the result is exactly the same. Sync goes by very fast and does nothing.
- I would still like to know what the "Use Outlook Add In" check box is for and if it might have something to do with this problem.
- Also would like to know why Outlook is not present in the list of "Contact Accounts to Sync". I see only Phone, Google, MyLocalAccount and WhatsApp. For the one time only force phone to outlook sync I used only the local account as that is where all my contacts are (or should be...)?? |

What is your problem? Lack of contacts or duplicate contacts in Outlook? I guess lack of contacts.
In which account are the lack of contacts (Look in the mobile phone)?
This account should you once in addition (please only one time) to activate to sync mobile phone > Outlook
Then disable this account again and synchronize again in both directions mobile phone <> Outlook |

Answers:
- Yes, lack of contacts in Outlook that are present on the phone. As I stated above in my second post "I am missing at least 30 or so more contacts that are on the phone but not in Outlook"
- I have followed the previous instructions (if I understood them correctly) to select only the Outlook account on the phone MPE settings and sync one way (force phone -> Outlook. This did not work.
- I am afraid I do not understand how disabling the Outlook account (if that is what you mean) would work at all. How does it know what to sync with if I disable the only account it is supposed to sync with?
Sorry for all this trouble but I really don't understand these instructions about enabling and disabling the account. |

Good, but on which contact account (in the mobile phone) are the 30 missing contacts from Outlook? Please check the contacts in the Contact-App => Edit
This account you must in addition to the sync to this 30 to synchronize contacts in Outlook |

The !30 missing contacts are in "My Local Account". I think I may be getting closer to the problem. I have always used the "Search Address Book" function in the top bar of Outlook. It is call up "Contacts" and there are ~30 missing entries. If I try to change it to call up "Address Book" it is EMPTY!
There is also a button at the lower left of Outlook that looks like a business card and it brings up a list of "Contacts". ALL of the missing entries are there.
So I think the problem is in Outlook configuration and I am trying to sort through that. I think Sync did push all the contacts to Outlook but to the Address Book which is complete and fine. But Outlook is currently not able to display all the contacts from the Address Book and only those that are in "Contacts".
When I try to change what it uses by default the Address Book selection there but the click box is greyed out. I looked this up on Microsoft site and it means the address book is corrupted somehow.
I think multiple attempts to sync and with the different settings has somehow corrupted the Address Book on the Outlook side so it will not even display it even though the data is all there.
So I am using google to try to find a way out of this mess. |
