Sync Thunderbird Distribution List with Android Group

I'm on the latest MPE version on my PC (1.8.7 running under Wine on Ubuntu 16.10) and Android (1.0.40 on CM 13), synchronising with Thunderbird (45.4.0) over wi-fi. Everything works extremely well, for which many thanks.

Recently I set up a Distribution List in Thunderbird. I had rather hoped it would create and sync with an Android Contact Group, but it doesn't. I have seen some forum entries about Outlook Groups, but didn't find one about Thunderbird Lists.

I created an empty Android Group with the same name as my Thunderbird List in the hope that might help, but it didn't.

Is this meant to work, or has it not been implemented? If it hasn't been implemented is there any chance that it might be at some point?

I have both MPE and a copy of Thunderbird installed under Wine, and I use wi-fi to connect my mobile to my network. In the past I used USB but that was more difficult to set up.

The copy of Thunderbird under Wine is not fully set up, but has two links to the real Thunderbird installed normally under Ubuntu ('myname' being my user name and 'myaccount' being the user directory for Thunderbird):

- ln -is /home/myname/.thunderbird/myaccount.default/storage.sdb storage.sdb
- ln -s /home/myname/.thunderbird/myaccount.default/abook-3.mab abook.mab

There are several other threads on how to do this. For instance, see http://www.fjsoft.at/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5835
