Windows 7 professional: I seem to have a similar problem. Have been using Myphonexplorer for many years (Brilliant) - Installed 1.8.9. - couldn't find the exe file. Tried to reinstall and also uninstalled - during install/uninstall after xxx on path to use says "uninstalling..." then error window comes up "MyPhoneExplorer is currently running Please close MyPhoneExplorer to continue" Cannot close this box!
Have to end the process in Task manager to get rid of it. Try to reinstall and earlier version same problem.
Please help.

I got similar situation as you guys
I'm on windows 7 pro.
I have been using Myphonexplorer for many years (Brilliant) - I installed 1.8.9. this morning but couldn't find the exe file.
I tried to reinstall but it didn't work better.
I finally reinstalled previous version and it is all fine again.
This time the upgrade didn't work for me. I don't know why.

Partial fix -
I went to programs(x86) and found the uninstall file there - successfully uninstalled 1.8.9. Reinstalled 1.8.8 - running fine again.
Any help on what might be the problem with 1.8.9 would be gratefull received so I can update successfully.
kind regards
Stan

Same problem here running Win 7, 64bit, no shortcuts shown, computer couldn't find program to start it (didn't let it run the full search though)
Work around
I logged on as Admin and found MPE under installed programs, it was showing ver 1.8.9, I uninstalled it but selected "do not delete personal data" option at the end. I then reinstalled ver 1.8.9 and it all ran as expected.
(NOTE: I did have a few very old appointments from 10yrs ago in Thunderbird appear for sync to phone)
