OBEX protocol or internal server error

As of a version or two ago, certainly with MPE 1.8.10 and the version before that, I kept getting OBEX error screens when attempting backups, usually after xxx the Create button and after the process is a few seconds in. I tried the various nightly debugs releases as well. Before it seemed like a connection or memory leak type of issue, as I'd frequently be able to get the backups going well for an hour or so (slow) and several gigs of files would be backed up before failure.

I've now installed MPE 1.8.11. An error now comes as soon as I click the button and says "Obex protocol could not be initialized. OBEX Errorcode: D0 - Internal Server Error."

How can I resolve this? Is something corrupted? Do I need to deinstall, cleanup, reboot and reinstall or something?

Thanks.

I just got this problem too.
I'm trying to sync some Excel files - one new, two old.
MPE version 1.8.11, Windows 7 Professional
Nothing else has changed, just suddenly won't sync.

HELP!

Here is what worked for me

Hi,

I didn't get any replies to my earlier post. However, I did see that subsequently other people opened other threads about OBEX issues. If I recollect correctly, at some point a new release became available.

I uninstalled whatever release I had. I don't think I did a manual cleanup of the Windows Registry. I think I may have made sure that any program folders, local settings or data folders were gone.

I did a fresh boot from cold. I installed the new release. It tossed on OBEX error when I tried a new backup, but continued to progress. I killed that back up attempt although it seemed to be proceeding. I exited and rebooted. I attempted another backup after rebooting, and things worked perfectly. They've been working perfectly since, and this release is able to maintain the connection for at least twodays and complete a full back of pretty much everything on my phone - over 64 GBs of content. Of course you might get some errors from temp files that disappear in that much time, but it is fully understandable. The backup also seemed to be progressing faster than before, although the time estimating wasn't too wonderful.

I'm currently on MPE 1.8.11, which is where the problems resolved. I think the key was just getting the older version desinstalled and making sure things were relatively clean, then installing the new version.

If it didn't work out, then I guess the next step I would pursue is also checking the registry and getting rid of any MPE entries if I found any there. But FJ's (and team) work has been really good over several years, and the result is MPE has been a good citizen on my desktop. So I think its cleanup on deinstall is pretty orderly and thorough.

Hope this helps!

Hi There,
Thanks for your speedy reply.
Rebooted everything this morning and all working so panic over!
Still no idea what happened - very strange.
I'll report back if any further issues.
Thanks again.
