Upgrade from 1.8.13 to 1.814 Setup.exe don"t start

Hi

When trying to upgrade 1.8.14 the setup.exe file Don't start.

I have check the Process: it's there but Nothing happens. I can't stop the process or delete it. If I try to strart the setup again it will have another setup process occurrence that I can't delete.

I have rebooted many times even in Safe Mode and still doesn't start.

Try re download and compare signature values.

(Latest version of 7zip can calculate you some values.)

What is with other software setups?
What is your Operating system exactly? Do you use administrator priviliges?

The reason is deeper than the MPE setup file.

Other software set-up? I guest that we need to be more specific: Which other software that might disable your set-up from completing?

A while ago I installed version 1.8.13 everything went smooth. But I did upgradre to Win 10 1909 from 1809 since then.

Operationg system:
Win 10 Family 1909
Operating system version : 18363.778.

I did run the set.up with administrator privileges all times. (right click Run as an administrator)

Also run it in safe mode : same problem

I agree it´s a realy strange behaviour.

With setup I mean from other software. E.g

Starting their installer result in a similar behaviour? Not necessary to finish their setup.

File signature values are MD5, SHA1 or SHA256. For fosshub file:

Would or have you tried once the german version of the installer to start? Also is the old one 1.8.13 still able to start the setup? Since Windows Upgrade.

I narrow it to an win10 introduced problem, or from microsoft defender.

If this file is definitely the only installer not running FJ need to have a short look on the issue itself.

You have a running version of the MPE on your computer, right?
If so, I´d suggest you just try to install the update to the actual beta of the MPE.

Answer for VladimirII:

VLC set up: did work fine and app is working just fime

7Z setup : Didn't work the first time. The app was already installed before running the setup. I changed the installation destination folder and did worked just fine

version 1.8.13 setup: Worked just fine just like it should

German version setup (file downloaded with the link in your response): same problem : seems to unpack but do not run and create a process that can't be deleted

Is this version of 1.8.14 a Beta? or the final version that I can use ?

This is a nightly build which will lead to 1.8.15 some day.
I use it as a permanent test for FJ and have no problems with that version.

Although you should not download this nightly version every time there is a new one because sometimes that version can produce a new glitch. FJ uses this to find certain problems but that need communication in advance.

In your case I recommended it because I now this version for a while now and know of no errors. From now on you should stick with the next official version that has not been announced yet. This was an one-time exeption.

BTW: Did you ever try this link: https://www.fjsoft.at/download.php?id=1 ?
The Fosshub link is only an alternative.

Then I have to tell, for the english version of the website the fosshub link shows up.
As pure alternative the download button presenation should be adjusted.
Btw. the Hash values were different of those two.

If not I will use the nightly version and upgrade to the official 1.8.15 as soon as available.

@RealP: There should be no significant changes in the installer between 1.8.13 and 1.8.14.

Are you still able to reproduce the issue?
How many bytes has your setup of 1.8.14 and what is the full filename?

After your message I re-run the version 1.8.14 setup (the one that didn't work before) and it did install correctly and MPE seem to work ok!

The setup file name and size are:

MyPhoneExplorer_Setup_v1.8.14.exe
size: 16 510 160 Bytes
