No SMS imported from P1i

Hi
First thanks for the new version of MPE supporting Symbian based phones! Was looking out for that one!
Just tried it, and after finding the phone, MPE does a whole Synchronise which works all fine, all but importing the sms' on the phone.
When it comes to this part, it starts reading messages on phone and sim, and then loading them, showing a count of the amount of messages downloaded, at the bottom in the statusbar. But, when finished there are no sms' in MPE... None!
The software doesn't give any errors or warnings. It completes the sync as if everything's normal, says it's loading messages, but ends up having no messages at all in its sms folders.
Any ideas on what might cause this?
Is there a maximum amount of messages it can handle? My inbox and sent items combined contain around 2400 messages.
When I used an older version of MPE, and with much less messages in my phone, it did work.
Actually backing up sms is one of the main features why I'm interested in MPE, since it is such a hassle, or the feature is all together missing, with other softwares.
Also, in the future, will there be a feature introduced to export messages to, for example, text files?
Anyway, thanks for a great piece of software, and hope you can shed some light on my problem.

Please send me the logfile zipped after you refreshed the message-folders.
Export is already implemented, take a look at the contextmenus.

Hi FJ,
Thanks for your reply.
Mailed you what should be the logfile for a Refresh I did today. Same results.
Just saw the export functions in the contextmenus.
Guess I didn’t look very well before. Sorry.
I’ll have a go with it tonight or tomorrow.
Greetings,
GMH

I got the logfile - its very interesting. It seems that the phone begins after 80 seconds to send the first message, but MPE waits only 60 seconds then the timeout for the import raises.
Can you plase try it again with the option "Stable connection" please ?

Tried again with a stable connection, as you requested.
This time it did download the messages from the phone.
Only, in the MPE inbox it counts 1230 messages versus 1233 messages on the phone.
This is not a huge problem, but it is strange, because which messages didn´t it download?
And, stranger even, in MPE sent items it counts 411 messages versus 1326 messages on the phone.
Any thoughts on that?
I sent you the latest refresh from MPE by email, just in case that might tell you anything. Also attached a print screen from the refresh process.
Tried the export functions for all lists, and they work perfect in each export format!
Great feature!
Greetings,
GMH

The phone stops the transfer with "Unknown error".
I know that its basicly problematic for the commandinterface if you have more than 1000 SMS on your phone. Alot of users reported this already. Maybe the simpliest solution is to delete some messages (after you exported them)

I've got the same problme, I tried with a stable connection, but it's still doesn't work. I've got a P1i, and I'm only enable to download 120 Messages

Your phone answers also with Errorcode 500. Mostly the problem disappears if you reduce the amount of messages on the phone. There is nothing i could do against it with external software.

Hi FJ,
Just a quick update.
I ended up doing the following:
> I connected with a stable connection, as you suggested.
> This allowed me to download all 1233 messages in my Inbox. (all but 3, but I thought 'close enough')
> I then deleted all Inbox messages.
> This allowed me to download all 1326 messages in the Sent folder on my phone.
Conclusion:
Since it seems that MPE downloads messages in the order Inbox first, then Sent, if you download all Inbox messages first, then delete them, you can still download all Sent messages after all.
I have no idea why MPE downloaded all 1326 Sent messages, and for the Inbox messages all 1233 minus 3.
Also I don't know if this solution works with an ever greater number of Inbox messages. But for my number of messages it worked.
Thanks a lot for your help!

Hello, Sorry to bring up an old thread.
I too have had this problem, I have set the options to "stable conection" and the MPE says that it's downloading the messages from the phone. It gets to "downloading messages (1870 of unknown)" or a similar figure then the window closes and the program states that it the message counter is at 0 and no messages can be found on my pc.
Are there any ways this can be resolved? My phone is a W960i and I'm using 1.7.0
I have e-mailed the log file as I think it's too long.
Thanks for your help.

Same problem as the others
MyPhoneExplorer requests the messages, then the phone gives no response for 5 minutes so a timeout raises.
- restart your phone
- if it does not help then try it with a firmwareupgrade
- if also no luck then decrease the amount of messages in your phone
Try bluetooh

Hi,
I had the same issue when connecting via the cradle on my P1i. Bluetooth worked flawlessly on over 2000 sms, roughly 50/50 in the inbox and sent folders
Please assist on my P1i SMS archiving

Dear FJ, I have a similar issue on P1i, but my MPE retrieves 0 sms from my phone. Why is this happening?
The only thing is that I have more than the designated sms folders e.g. Inbox, Sent, etc, I have my own sms folder named as some other random names.
Secondly I have about 1300 sms in my Inbox, 1500 in my Sent, and 2000+ in my other folders.

The phone quits the request with an unknown error. Its a common issue on all UIQ3-Phones that the SMS-Interface gets buggy if there are to many messages in the phone.
If you want you can try the
current beta. In the beta the SMS are listet with another command, but i don't think it helps in your case. In that case it could help to decrease the amount of messages in the phone.
