Hi, I lost the highly valuable feature balloons on my destop for incoming smses, when I upgraded to MPE 1.7.1. Anyone else? (yes the feature is ticketed).

I haven't installed 1.7.1 yet but I know it is a setting. I don't think it is removed.

Press: F2 (Or "File" > "Options"
Select: "Behaviour"
Select in "Message notification" "Balloon help"

As I said, it is not based on ver 1.7.1.

No, the Meessage notification setting is there. Same as I had in 1.7.0

There were no changes in this feature in v1.7.1. Maybe you disabled Balloontips for windows global ?
Can other apps display balloontips or does it work with an earlier version of MyPhoneExplorer ?

Does ballontips work in Vista?

Using Vista64 now and I can't see any ballontips even though the options i set in preferences.

Normally they works - if not a system-setting disallows balloons in general

It's a newly installed system, so it's odd. But I found a tutorial that force-enables it. Need to reboot though, so I'll report back tomorrow. Meanwhile...

I've check the option "Message notification: Popup window" - but i'm wondering if this windows does show the PING-sms notifications?
Cause I haven't seen the "popup window" in work yet, so I dont even know how it looks like.

The result of a Ping-SMS is shown only in Balloontip. If another user pings you then there is no notification.

Yeah ok.
That explains why I didn't get any notifications from my sent Ping-SMS even though I used "popup windows".

Anyway, today I've (re)booted my Vista with the forced setting:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced]
"EnableBalloonTips"=dword:00000001

(I did enable it through gpedit.msc aswell.)


But I still can't see the Balloon tips from MPE. Any suggestions?

Using Vista 64, if that has anything to do with it.

If you SEND a message with MyPhoneExplorer then also a balloon should appear - does this work ?

No it doesn't. No balloon tips from MPE are appearing.

What about other applications ? Can they display balloons ?

I've just verified that NO balloon tips are workign for me. So it's not an MPE thing. I'll report back when I know more.

Same problem here. But I'm missing balloons for MPE only! Balloons worked fine until 1.7.1.
Feature was allways and is enabled in the MPE configuration. I tried to change it to have the config data being rewritten. But no effect.
I tried to reinstall MPE. No effect.

Balloons are working fine in the rest of XP. So there's no global problem.

I just noticed, that balloons work with NO function of MPE. I.e neither with receiving notifications, nor with "new message". PopUps works fine (but not with notifications of course).

Which servicepack you are using ?
