MPE crashes on opening

I had this problem with version 1.7.0 so I have just upgraded to 1.7.1 and the same thing happens. I haven't changed my PC, MPE just stopped working! Maybe Bill Gates has updated something!!!
When I start the program the program logo comes up and it seems to connect with the phone and then it crashes, before opening the program iteslf. The error message is always:
The instruction at "0x71020294" referenced memory at "0x71020294". The memory could not be "read".
Any thoughts anyone?

I am on a K800i. MPE was working well until today. I uninstalled and installed but it did not work. Windows XP.
When I ran MPE, it just shuts down.

• Start-Run-%appdata%-OK
• Rename the folder "MyPhoneExplorer" to "MyPhoneExplorer_backup"
• try it again
• report if it helps

Uninstall the PC-Suite and install it again. in your case i think the problem is raised from mRouter (a middleware which is included in the PC-Suite)

Ok, so I am getting pretty much the same error.
I tried what FJ stated in renaming the folder, but no luck there.
I have an LG Phone and am running Vista
I have also tried reinstalling the program but no luck.
any help would be great..

Hi FJ,
I downloaded the latest version and re-installed PC-Suite as you suggested but still get the same error. Interestingly though, I now can't use PC Suite to create a backup either. It gets most of the way through and then has an error as follows:
"
Backup Status
Cancelled by mobile phone.
Remarks
Settings:
Cancelled by mobile phone.
10000080 - Mobile phone not responding.
"
SE have been no help yet on that one, but I'll let you know what they say.
One thing I have noticed is that m-Router is connecting via COM5 whereas MPE was using COM14. Don't know if it's relevant, just thought I'd say.

@Ghost: I don't think its the same problem - anyway you can try this:
• Start-Run-%appdata%-OK
• Rename the folder "MyPhoneExplorer" to "MyPhoneExplorer_backup"
• try it again
• report if it helps
@Bradford8487: The strange thing is that the crash happens on connecting and not directly after starting. Cause this i think it must have to do something with mRouter or maybe with the drivers.
Could you test it on another PC so we are sure that the problem comes not directly from phone ? by the way: Are you using Bluetooth or the USB-Cable ?

Its normal that MPE and mRouter needs diffrent Ports. The Port of MPE should be listed in the devicemanager as "Modem", the Port which is used from mRouter should be listed in the first class, i think its calld"Connections" in english.

I tried and didn't work. I'm getting "run-time error 0" and then
The instruction at "0x5ad71531" referenced memory at "0x00000014". The memory could not be "read"
I use bluetooth to connecto to the mobile

sorry for digging up an old post
but after changing MyPhoneExplorer to MyPhoneExplorer_backup as FJ suggested, the following appeared
AppName: myphoneexplorer.exe AppVer: 1.7.0.1 ModName: kernel32.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.5512 Offset: 00012aeb
any ideas?

Hi
Directly after startup ?
Also on WinXP with SP3 ?
Please download this testapp and tell me if you can start it without errormessages:
www.fjsoft.at/files/Test.exe
If this one crashes also then i would like to chat with you via ICQ or Skype-Chat to find the problem. Is this possible ?

@Ghost and VC: I think i have found the problem. MyPhoneExplorer uses a system-file which is not compatible with SP3. You can update the file with this
patch from Microsoft. Don't forget to restart your PC after this update
Please give feedback if this was the solution
