SMS Delivery report

It would be very useful to add a field in the "sent items" panel showing that an sms has been delivered. I have a W810i phone and when I send sms with MyPhoneExplorer I don't get the delivery info updated in the phone, so if for any reason (e.g. I'm away from the computer) I miss the delivery pop-up, I will never know whether the sms has been delivered or not.
Moreover, it's a bit misleading to get multiple delivery reports shown for long sms. It would be better to get just one, after the reports for all the pieces of the sms are got.

Thank you for your attention and I hope to see this feature implemented soon.

Sorry, but it's technically not possible to set a delivery report in the phone.

SMS Delivery report

Hi,
Thank you for your answer.
My quetion was different and I try to reprase it: wouldn't it be possible to have a flag in the "sent items" panel of MyPhoneExplorer that is set when the sms is delivered (i.e. when MyPhoneExplorer gets the delivery report) ?
Thanks.

Not a good idea: I cannot read/write thos flags in the phone. So i would have flags in MyPhoneExplorer but not on the phone and reverse i would have flags in the phone but not in MyPhoneExplorer - looks ugly and inconsistent.

As alternative, would it be possible to have an option to make the SMS delivery notification window persistent on the screen (instead of disappearing after a few seconds) ? In this way one would still be able to know that an sms has been delivered, even if not in front of the computer at the exact moment the sms has been deliverd.
Thanks.

It is good idea FJ.
As a suggestion, you can assign a timer in setting menu for this notification balloon.

The Ballon-Timeout cannot be changed - its a system-setting. Bt i understand your problems - what about putting them into the Popup-Window where also incoming messages appear (if selected in the settings) ?

I'm using pop up menu, but its time-out is also less than 10 second.

Dear FJ,
The behavior of pop-up window is exactly like balloon help . So even I choose Pop-up window, it is doing like balloon and disapear after e few second.
In passed 2 years I just saw the pop-up window for missed calls and sms, but not for delivery confirmation.

I asked if it would be a good idea to put the delivery-reports into the popupwindow in future. Currently they are always shown as baloon

I got it.

Yesterday I checked your new Debugupdate.exe and I found modification about showing delivery-reports:
Minor Changes:
- added "Minimize to tray" into system-menu
- added SMS-Import from PC-Suite Archive
- delivery-reports are shown in the eventwindow (if Popupwindow is selected as message-notification)
But still reports are showing as balloon although I've selected "popup window" in message notification.

Hmmz, just a thought: does a delivery report have a timestamp? Perhaps that timestamp could be used to set one for the corresponding message in sent items (as currently there is no way to retrieve the original timestamp of sending). Would be great for archiving.

(disclaimer :P: my provider doesn't support delivery reports, so I might be a little bit off on this)

@Khosrow: Are you sure ? I just tried it with the same build and it works
@Guillaume: Nice idea - but senseless. Its not possible to read earlier delivery-reports.
- The come in in "realtime" - when MyPhoneExplorer is connected.
- when MyPhoneExplorer is connected to phone then the message was probably written with MyPhoneExplorer
- if a message was written in MPE then MPE does already save this timestamp internally

Ah ok, so after such a report the phone can handle it any way it wants then I guess: I've seen phones just tagging sent items with an indication of deliverance, but also some phones that actually put the delivery reports in the inbox as if they were normal sms messages (which would make chances high that you could retrieve them in MPE afterwards). That's why I got that idea.

@Khosrow: We are talking about diffrent things. You mean the message "Message was sent sucessfully" - this is still as balloon shown. The delivery-report comes back from the provider and it shows if the message was also received from the other phone. As i saw you are using a P1i. For symbian-phones i had to disable the possibility to request delivery-reports cause the notification to MyPhoneExplorer does not work with this phones

@Guillaume: I saw up to yet no SonyEricsson-Phone which saved the delivery-report in the inbox

No, as i said for Symbian-Phones the SMS-Delivery-Report does not work stable so i did hide this feature for Symbian-Phones.
