Hi there, I'm new to MFE so please excuse my ignorance.
Can I sync txt messages only and not contacts etc and also can MFE be set to only sync manually and not automatically when connected to my phone?

Yes it's possible just syncing txt messages withouth contacts etc. You can configure the "Multi Sync"-task at your personal taste. You find in the settings of MPE which categories you want to sync.

It's also possible to disable automatic sync when connected - everything in the settings
