Hi all, sorry for the nooby question.
I'm getting a new computer soon and would like to transfer all the sms' that are saved in the archive to my new computer. How is this done?
Do I simply copy the 'Sony Ericsson k750' folder and its contents from C://Program Files/MyPhoneExplorer to the same directory when I install MPE again on my new computer?
Keep in mind that I'm using an older version of MPE (1.2) and will be transferring the files to the newest version. They will still be read in the same way right? |

Version 1.2 is very old
In your case it would be the best:
- install MyPhoneExplorer 1.2 on your new computer
- copy the whole phonedatabase - the 'Sony Ericsson k750' folder to your new pc
- start MPE v1.2 on your new PC, look if everything is all right
- then download the newest version and install it.
- its important that you install first the old v1.2 on your new PC so that the old phonedata are converted right with the update to v1.5.9 |

Oh ok.
So when I download and install v1.5.9, it should automatically convert the old phonedata?
Could you provide me with the link to v1.2 ? I can't seem to find the setup on my computer, or the link to it in your downloads section.
Thanks FJ. |

Ok. I'm using my new computer now.
I did what you said.
Installed MPE v1.2, pasted the folder where it should go, opened up MPE for the first time.. and nothings there? Is there a button or option I should click to update the list or something..?
EDIT: Ok, I can right click and click 'Import SMS-file' but the problem is.. how would one find the .sms file from v1.2? where is it usually saved? |

If you don't find the .sms files use the search function of Winodws Explorer.
In my mind for version 1.2 the files schould be in a subfolder from MyPhoneExplorer.
In other case, maybe you can find them in your profile folder.

Ok, I searched 'sms' and it returns the file SMS.dat here. This is from the folder I have. Here's a pic of whats in the K750 folder I pasted in MPE on my new computer.
Should I just try renaming it? What if that doesn't work. I don't really want my sms files stuck in my old computer... there HAS to be a way..
Thanks. |

If you've installed the old version 1.2, make a backup copy from that
folder and the .dat files.
Then install the new MPE-Version into the same program folder
(C:\Program Files\MyPhoneExplorer).
The new version should convert the .dat files by itself.
[EDIT:] Are the old .dat files created with the same User / phone / IMEI?
MPE creates a subforlder for each if finding some other.

Yeah the old .dat files were created with the same user/phone, hence why theres only one folder there (k750i).
But thanks, I'll try that. |

Hehe silly me.
From my OLD COMPUTER, I forgot to save the sms as a .sms file at first (right click > save as > .sms file). I thought just putting it in the archive was enough.
So i've fixed that now, I've exported it onto my new computer now. Thanks |
