I have successfully installed mpeclient_1.0.48 on my Verizon ZFlip4. I have successfully created a backup of my old S4. Nonetheless, I am still unable to successfully restore my messages from the old S4 backup file. Whenever I try, the sms restore shows 2600 items but only "restores" the few items (27) that are currently on the ZFlip4. My old S4 has MPE 2.8. Do I need to install 1.0.48 on both the new phone and the old phone? Am I trying to do the impossible in lieu of new security implementation on the ZFlip4? Thank you for helping.
Note. I am using USB connection to Win7 PC MPE 2.0 for both the S4 and the ZFlip4. I have successfully transferred contacts (thank God) from the S4 to the ZFlip4 while using MPE 2.8. In addition to messages, I have not been able to transfer "recent" phone records from the old S4 to the new Zflip4. There are no errors or requests for permissions whenever I try to restore the backup from the S4 to the ZFlip4. |

You need to install 1.0.48 only on your new phone. You should also select "MyPhoneExplorer Client" as "Standard SMS app" even before you try to restore the backup. Please try it again and send me the logfile after you tried via email to this thread if it fails again.

Thank you for helping. I am unable to, without further guidance, set MyPhoneExplorerClient as the standard SMS app on my ZFlip4. Currently, the default SMS app is "Messages." Within the Messages settings is a menu item "Messaging app." This menu item item displays a page titled "Default SMS app." There are three radio buttons - Message+, Messages, and Messages (but with a different icon from the first "Messages.)" There is not a menu listing to set MyPHoneExplorer as the "Default SMS app." Is there a workaround to make MyPhoneExplorer the "standard SMS app." I have been searching, but I have not found another menu item that allows setting MyPhoneExplorerClient 1.0.48 as the default SMS app. Thank you for guidance.

Actually Android 13 ....
Have you looked in (system) Settings > Apps > Choose default apps ... ? Though just looked on my phone (Galaxy Note 20 running A13) and that doesn't give me an option for MPE either .... hmmm... |

@dvhttn the selection MyPhoneExplorer is only listed when using the MPE client 1.0.48.
@LorenAlbert
Please check in the AppInfo of the MPEClient whether it rights have been revoked.
If necessary, uninstall the client 1.0.48 and agree to all rights after the new installation.
Otherwise send FJ the logfile via email with a link to this thread if it fails again |

Ah, I see. I haven't been paying much attention to the issue as, personally, I have never kept old SMS messages. |

I uninstalled and reinstalled MPE 1.0.48 and attempted to restore the S4 . mpb file. Contacts and phone logs were restored but not messages. I have since figured out how to set MPE 1.0.48 as the default messages client. A nag informs you to make Messages the default. Messages can not be read when MPE 1.0.48 is the default. I attempted to restore the S4 .mpb archive while MPE was the Default. Again, contacts and phone logs were restored but not messages.
I have sent the Debug.txt file to FJ. Thanks for commenting. |
