Im curious if it is possible to connect a cell phone to a PC via USB and use the cell phones microphone and speaker instead of the one in the PC? For example, the cell phones mic and speaker will act as the headset for skype calls.
Please help.

Hello to everybody, I'm Italian and I'm a new forum user..
I know the use of the phone about the calls is not possible with PC soundcard...unfortunely! But I ask if in a future there'll be an evolution of the software and this wonderful function will be finally a reality...
Please forgive me for my bad english... anyway very congratulations for the software: it's so good!!!

Greatings from Italy, Enrico

Its a technical thing... The USB-Cable has 4 Pins, all 4 Pins are used for the USB-Connection. So its simply not possible to stream the voice to the PC throught the cable. But its already possible if you use a Bluetooth-Stick with WIDCOMM-Software. With this you can make your PC to a headset.

So, if I've understood, with that product (a broadcom bluetooth software) I could use my Skype headset (for example) to do and receive calls by my PC and its soundcard? Good! Can you tell me if I need a bluetooth usb-pen to do this as I'm thinking? I hope so.... Thanks a lot and congratulations again for your software! Smile

Yes - theoretically this should work. I tried it only with the common speakers and a microphone but it should be no matter which headset is connected to the soundcard.

Just be sure that the bundled software from the stick is WIDCOMM. The cheap sticks are often delivered with BlueSoleil which doesn't support this service.

I had a USB BlueTooth dongle with BlueSoleil software and it did support this. Perhaps just different versions?

Use Linux & Wine (as per sticky) as you can use the Linux drivers for even the cheapest dongle and all profiles will work!

Hmm - maybe later versions support it. I had tried it with my second stick which is inbetween two years old. We are talking about "using the PC as headset" - not use a "BT-Headset on your PC" - you understood this ?

Hmm... I wouldn't stake my life on it! It's been a long time since I used BlueTooth on Windows, as we're not allowed at work and I don't use Windows at home.

Either way, the BlueZ drivers under GNU/Linux definitely have the right profile. How well it would work in a virtualised environment, I'm not sure. The remote control profile only partially works, but it's still pretty cool and usable.
